You know what would be really funny, if penpen had a psychological analyzation sequence like all the other characters when he went into instrumentality. Whats really funny is that gainax is the only anime company( besides Ghiblie of course) that can make animal mascot characters that I actually like. I mean if it were any other anime the best I could do is tolerate the presence of an animal character like Ryohki for example. Or worse curse their very existence like I do with pikachu and especially hamtaro.

But what's simply amazing is that I dont think theres a single gainax animal mascot I dislike. I mean I really liked ebichu, given my history with hamtaro I didn't think it would be possible for me to ever like an anime hamster but Ebichu ended up being one of my fave characters. I also like penpen and that parrot from melody of oblivion. Hell even that deformed aligator thing from the woefully awful gainax anime "He is my master" was fun, that aligator was about the only thing I liked about that show.

He was speaking metaphorically. Humanity needs the future in the sense that we need something to look foward too, we need hope.

Don't forget Misato's opinion on why Kaworu allowed himself to be killed--in the end, he had less will to live than Shinji. This could be consistent with Kaworu's own explanation, but it's interesting she would phrase it in a more personal way. The irony is that since Misato's job was not only to fight the Angels but direct the Children, she had the opportunity to view Shinji and Kaworu in the same balance. It makes the ending of #24 even more startling than the first time.

Misato was wrong; it is not at all consistent with Kaworu's explanation. Hell even Shinji knew she was wrong.

It could certainly be said that Misato was correct. Kaoru did have less of a desire for life, as evidenced by his lack luster approuch to merging with Lillith, who he thought was Adam at the time. He seemed deeply sympathetic towards those wacky lillim and was verbally expressing self doubt. "Must those born of Adam return to Adam" blah blah blah. However, it seems to be only one of several factors that led him to his final decision.

It seemed to me that Misato was once again projecting, as she often did throughout the series. One final time, she voiced an opinion that reflected her personal feelings -- in this case, hatred for the angels -- without regard for the feelings of those around her. At that final moment, she seemed to represent everyone who would never understand the level of friendship Kaoru and Shinji had, because they hadn't witnessed it first hand.

That said, there can be only one way to end the manga...

Well I don't dislike manga kaworu like most of you , but it'd be damn funny if this happened, I can just imagine Asuka walking down the beach, and she steps on something odd and squish, its dark so she can't see what it is, so she bends down and takes closer look then after a moment of silence we hear an ear piercing scream.

That would be so incredibly awful and wrong, but for some reason the ideas pretty funny to me. Maybe someone should write a fanfic where Asuka finds kaworus severed head :o

That's like...a MAJOR scene. I don't hate Kaworu, but I don't love him either (unlike most female Eva fans XD), but I definetly think his death was an important part of the series.
