Hey, all.
Was skimming thru my email today and I received I reply from something I said on this Youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W3uyWaQOFoQ#3cjR4yCcPtA
My words: Yay! I really hope Miyamura reprises her role in Rebuild. Since the other seiyuu have been, there's no reason she wouldn't.
Another person's reply: i really hope so.... u know she was diagnosed with Basedow's disease in May 2007 i hope she's ok.......
Apparently, this is what the disease is: http://www.wrongdiagnosis.com/medical/basedow_s_disease.htm
Posting this here in case anybody knows the SAUCE of this rumor.
I pray this isn't the case. It's bad enough having just found out today that a very dear RL friend of mine may have a serious health problem, a seiyuu I really like such as Miyamura having this would just upset me even more.
Yuko Miyamura has Health problems?

Basedow's disease? Sounds like bullshit to me, since nobody calls it that. Like that poster picked a random disease name out of a hat. It's more commonly known as Graves' Disease, which is pretty easily treated. So if she has it, it shouldn't be a big issue.

Apparently "Basedow's Disease" is what "Graves Disease" is more commonly called in Europe
Who is "Codename V"?....
I'm pleased to meet you and I hope you guessed my name, but what's puzzling you, is the nature of my game...so catch me if you can!! (0:50)

hyperthyroidism (sp)? The contrary of the Hashimoto syndrome (hypo). If she has that, I wouldn't worry. Although it would explain lots of things, you know how thyroids handle stuff from our humour to our figure. Miyamu- deserves a slap or two, a couple levo's and back to the rice field you go. Yep, of the Eva seiyuu team, she's the on I like the less.

I noticed a reference to this on Wikipedia as well last week. (I'm watching Outlaw Star at the moment).
They reference this page:
http://www3.bigcosmic.com/board/s/board.cgi?id=TSokcs&mode=cal&y=2007&m=5&d=12
I can tell you that the title of the article does in fact say "Basedow," but other than that I'm lost.

What's with the Miyumura dislike? Personally, I generally like all the seiyuu from Eva, I'm just on the slightly fanatical side when it comes to Ogata and Mitsuishi. ^^; (And sometimes with Hayashibara and Tomokazu.)
Also, from Leaky:
@ Brik: I had a feeling it was bullshit, too, in terms of the seriousness (or lack thereof) of it.
It's good to know it's at least treatable, and hopefully she'll reprise her role as Asuka. ;)
Also, from Leaky:
Japanese voice actress Yuko Miyamura was diagnosed in 2007 after suffering exophthalmos. [1]

Yuko Miyamura and Grave's Disease
No one seemed to have discussed this subject until now.
The following entry was from her old blog (which has been deleted and replaced by her current Ameblo blog), dated around September 2007:
Translated, she said:
Despite what seemed to be a very debilitating disease (and therefore very devastating to any voice actor), I'd say it's a miracle that she was able to make a comeback and go voice once more as Asuka on 2.0 and remaining installments of the Rebuilds.
Well, for surviving Grave's and then turning around, Yuko is now one of my heroines.

Subsequent course of Graves disease
Have passed more than six months was diagnosed with Graves Disease.
At one time drugs had completely forgotten to drink (you will not imitate it!) I,
Precisely because it had also deteriorated because of it
It is also getting help from family members (husband, mainly because of A-type)
Kakasazu (sic) every time you take the medicine
In the last examination in between
Numbers in the blood
Returned to the baseline? !
Even though
Medication is not to relapse of the disease need to keep it a couple of years
(Some may have to do is to continue treatment for more than 10 years)
But still must continue to drink.
By the way
It is a blood test
Thyroid hormones and antithyroid antibodies in the blood
Measured.
Determination of thyroid hormone Furisairokishin → (FT4)
Furitoriyodosaironin (FT3)
Check blood levels and so on.
After that, anti-TSH anti-thyroid antibodies and antibody Demand → (TRAb)
Antithyroglobulin antibody (TgAb)
Antithyroid peroxidase antibody (TPOAb)
It is detected and diagnosed it.
Next
The course of my numbers
Try to write what I write.
Thank you! !
