Regarding Old Lady Akagi

This has probably been brought up somewhere,
Is it possible that her soul is in the MAGI system? It makes a lot more sense than her soul being in Zeroguoki, she practically landed on one of the computers (Balthazar?) when she offed herself, and Ritsuko claims her mother is 'in' the MAGI computers. So if it is at all possible, do you think she's in the computer(s)? The other mothers seemed to 'die' while near or with their respective units.
This is just a thought, I was just thinking of the whole Naoko in Zero thing and this came to mind.

also in b4 this thread gets off topic somehow.

Why would it be?

It's just her personality patterns being encoded as data. We see a similar thing with Rei, when she goes into that tube and has her own personality (such as it is...) digitized by that massive brain-like thing.

It makes a lot more sense than her soul being in Zeroguoki

This is hardly a consensus view anyway, at least where I'm from.

she practically landed on one of the computers (Balthazar?) when she offed herself

IT'S SYMBOLIC.

That's why I'm here. :fidgets with padlock:

Well in EoE when Ritsuko tries to 'splode MAGI, it doesn't work, Ritsuko says it betrays her, and last I checked machines don't usually betray people.
also lol no one likes Ritsuko.

I believe Caspar betrays her. And by "betray" I mean, thought initiating self destruct was a bad idea.
God, Apparently you all have been discussing Q since November. Catching up on the discussion is harrowing.

They are personality engrams that are supposed to weigh out the pros and cons of any possible choice of action, and Naoko intentionally drew from conflicting parts of her personality so that the MAGI would keep each other in check, so to speak.

Naoko is dead, but the MAGI are an "extension" of her that continued to exist afterwards.

RITSUKO:
Right.
In a very real sense, this is my mother's brain.

Misato:
Is that why you wanted to protect the Magi?

RITSUKO:
I don't think so. I didn't really like my mother that much.
This was a decision as a scientist.

However, after things have gone downhill and Ritsuko's been detained, she says to herself, "What should I do, Mother?". When she is brought back out to repel the hack attempt by the other MAGI systems, she actually refers to the MAGI as "Mother". At this point in the story, she has no person with whom to connect, no one and nothing to fall back on -- except a machine that represents "Mom".

When she decides that she and 'Mom' ought to "die together", by blowing up HQ, Casper says, "I don't think so, babe." Ritsuko interprets this as "betrayal" -- i.e., Naoko chosing Gendo over her -- even though her mom is long since dead, and there is no logical reason why MAGI would be basing its decision on something like "lover vs. daughter".

also lol no one likes Ritsuko.

Don't go saying that on NGE image boards. You'll get lynched by the Ritsuko fanboys.

Ah, I get it now. Well it was worth a shot.

But it's true she never got any lovin(being used doesn't count as love), in the series, fanboys are NOT canon to the plot, contrary to popular beliefs.

Lol nicely put. Another character that gets the same (or worse) treatment would be Winry from full metal alchemist.

She got maternal love from Naoko. Does that count?

Also, does it count as "being used" if you are a fully willing accomplice? "My mother's dead? That kind of sucks, but it also means... Alright! Here I am, Chie--, I mean, Commander Ikari! I will gladly let you exploit me to the fullest! In fact, I insist that you do! (Although when my threshold for abuse is somehow breached, I will let you know by ruining one of your projects.)"

Didn't she say she hated Naoko as a mother? Or was that as a person?
Weather she liked being used or not, she had cats. LOTS OF CATS.

Episode #13 (Plat) wrote:RITSUKO:
The night before she died, my mother told me
that the Magi are three aspects of herself.
Herself as a scientist.
Herself as a mother.
Herself as a woman.
The Magi is those three aspects struggling for dominance.
She intentionally left in the dilemmas of human experience.
Actually, each of the three programs are slightly different.
I don't think I'll ever be a mother,
so I don't understand her as a mother.
But I respected her as a scientist.
However, as a woman, I even hated her.

But that's just because she was sex0ring Gendo, LOL.

On a personal note, Gendo is worth being jealous for, he had BIG plans for Yui when he got back to her, if you know what I mean, and yes I've slept with him, but I'd rather not go down that dark alle- errr, memory lane.

On a serious note, did you write down all these scripts yourself or is there a download somewhere? They seem to be pretty useful.

Yes they are.

(BTW, anybody else, that's a slightly revised collection. Nab it.)

Thanks for the scripts, they will come in handy. Also, that link made me see Gendo in a way I can never forget.

So it's settled, Ritsuko's mom is DEAD. Good riddance. No one strangles Rei and lives.

For the first few episodes yes, but they drift apart because Misato learns she's been lied to, and hates the fact the Ritsuko values the EVAs over the pilots.

What I wanted to ask, since its related, is am I the only one who sees a parallel between Frau Doctor/Stepmutter and Akagi Naoko?

Both the "Women in them" won out as opposed to the "Mother in them"...

LOL 26' foreshadowing (Plat epi.13) wrote:RITSUKO:
Casper contains the pattern of her as a woman.
She stayed a woman to the last.
How totally like my mother.

22' wrote:LADY DOCTOR (OFF):
I'm just another human before I'm a doctor, a flesh and blood woman.

And yeah I know Eva's a show where all these characters parallel with everyone else ("We are the same"~Kaworu to Rei, "Because I'm like you?"~Shinji to Asuka, Kaji-kun=Misato's father, etc etc), I personally like the theory of Langley=Gendo...
