Well, I'm glad to put this year behind me as the final few months were kind of crappy (the biggest things being a cancer diagnosis for an immediate member of my family and a sudden death of a member of my extended family, of which the funeral was today). But ever onward as they say, so I hope for a good [s:1g6ps0t8]1937[/s:1g6ps0t8] 2015.

The Critic DVD set is wonderful, I just haven't sat down to properly watch it all...

Sorry to hear about such terrible things with your family. You're in my thoughts that everything will turn out for the best.

Over three hours late saying this for my time zone, but happy new year!

A new generation of gaming is upon us, and I'm future-proofed and ready for it with this new graphics card that I managed to get up and running at full capacity only just today (as chronicled in the Building a PC thread). May it serve me as well as its predecessor, whose purchase even predates (by several years!) my long-running journal that I started back in the summer of 2011. And may the PC gaming industry continue to get its act so completely together after such a long time.

I celebrated the transition of the year by beating Crysis tonight -- symbolic not only of the closing of the previous generation (it being a game that was much too far ahead of its time graphically back in its day and remained the defining benchmark of hardware capability for an entire generation and only now finally looks old) but also of my own progress in clearing out my backlog stretching back to college. This damn thing had been on my to-complete list for like seven fucking years and now it's finally good and dead and done.

Another terrible year concluded and a new shitfest begun. If the past two and a half years are indication, my 2015 will be wrought with poverty, drama, and abject loneliness.

Maybe if we're lucky, Evangelion will stop being fiction this year and we'll all get Tanged. Alternatively, perhaps either the US or Russia will start World War 3.

I think I judged 2015 a little too harshly, too soon. Really hasn't been that bad at all so far.

I didn't mention it earlier, but my new year resolution this year is to hop on the treadmill once a day, every day. It was a habit that I got into last year (and then fell out of when I hurt my ankle, and didn't get back on the treadmill again even after it healed.) It couldn't really hurt me to be a bit more active, I say.

An excellent start to New Year's: Zap's cousin played "classic" vidya games with us!

He played the original Mega Man (only knowing about him from the latest Smash Bros) and quipped: "I am not cut out for original Nintendo." :lol:

He's also seen the old Super Mario Bros Super Show and wondered if "the guy playing Mario [Captain Lou]" asked himself: "What have I done with my life?" :hitthetable:

End mine bacterial bronchitis. Finish my full lengths reports. Enable myself to draw (and therefore, doojons). Get back into anime and Evangelion because had a year and bit of prolonged apathy.
