Seems Cinema Asia and Eleven Arts will be playing a substantial role in this, along with familiar face and English-audio provider FUNimation Entertainment.

We will have action this-coming January.

Yes! I hope it comes to my city or at the least, to a plausibly close theater near me.

I posted this like a week or so ago when it was announced in ANN's Press Release section. I posted it in the DVD/BD release date thread aside from making a thread just for the date.

I guess hardly anyone saw it.

More like it's common knowledge. That or no one cares for one reason or another.

At any rate, I'm removing "BREAKING" from the thread title. This is what we've known for a few weeks now.

The box office date IS news. I don't count Anime News Network due to rampant sheer speculation in some of their articles. That's just me, but whatever.

On another note, being in ass-backwards Florida, I will probably not get the opportunity to see this movie, due to the fact that we hardly get anime films in general.

Although, if I am wrong, someone correct me.

I don't see a date here, I just see a month. That's 31 different possible dates.

Did I just glance over an actual theatrical release date (i.w. January 7) or is it still the vague month?

I already tweeted about this. Also, those blogs got that info directly from ANN.

One silly question that I'd like to ask: is it shown in the theatres dubbed or subbed?
I never watched an anime in your country and I never heard about this detail.

I think whether a foreign film is showed subtitled or dubbed really depends on the theater and the distributor more than anything else; there's not really one standard for it that everyone abides by. I'd assume that if Funimation has their dub ready to go in time, though, they'd want to use it for the showings.

I am not sure

the dub is supposed to be a part of 2.22 on March 29, 2011, so the chances are 50/50 as to dub or sub for theaters

I say 50/50 because theaters showing foreign films usually go with the sub of a film unless it is a film from a major studio, i.e. Enter the Dragon, Crouching Tiger, all Ghibli films, etc.

Thank you for the explanation; here it's not shown in the theatres at all, it's only projected for some events (which are done subbed when the dubs aren't available and dubbed when they're ready). I was curious to know how things work out on the other side of the Atlantic.

The dubbed/subbed foreign films in the theatre, at least in my experience, seem to depend quite a bit on how it's being marketed and who it's being marketed to.

Because of how Funimation run, it'll be dubbed. They said something about "if the screening is by Funimation, it'll be dubbed. But at film festivals in the future it'll be subbed" but that was about Summer Wars. No doubt that goes for Evangelion too.
