The manga volumes have a mixture of hiragana, katakana, and some kanji. I can't really tell what they use what for. I see they use katakana for character names. And whenever kanji is used, it has hiragana to aid readers. It looks like there's more hiragana than anything else.

That's fairly typical : all the grammar -- inflections and particles -- are bunches of hiragana attached to the kanji that they modify.
