Hi, all! Just got back from 2 weeks in Japan. While I didn't see one bit of anime on tv (of course, everywhere I stayed did not have cable), there was plenty of Eva to be seen. Here's a few posters for Eva pachinko machines in Kyoto across the street from Kyoto Station:

This was a poster for Final Project (sorry it came out so blurry - lots of people walking in front of it) in Akihabara:

And finally, in the first floor of the Don Quijote Akihabara superstore, there was what appeared to be a pachinko parlor completely dedicated to Eva (couldn't go in to check - allergic to cigarette smoke). This was the entrance:

Most stores I went to in Akihabara (other than Animate) featured Eva, Bleach, and Ookiku Furikabutte. Lots of Eva stuff, including some canned coffee that appears to be an Eva branded product. Lots of Eva stuff in the Tokyo Anime Center (which really only amounts to a gift shop).

You mean this kind of stuff?
I can't remember how many different ones they have, mainly the Eva cast, I think there are pictures of the all on the Evangelion website.

You dork. You didn't tell me you were going to Japan. I hope you brought me back a souvenir.
You better fill me in at Otakon.

Yep, that was it. When you walk into Animate, there's a big display of it before you get 5 feet in the door. I'm not a big fan of coffee, so I didn't buy any.

Will do! Unfortunately, my souvenir for ye is these pictures I posted. I was on a shoe-string budget. By the way, that reminds me (off topic)- why is the Eva panel at Otakon this year 18+? Are you running it?

i wonder what that 1:1 doll was made out of. looks like those stuff that are made out of mannequins. in that case, i really dont want that statue.
always get a feeling that their eyes are following me.
unless there is a Rei statue:
me: why are you paying so close attention to me, Rei?
Rei Statue: ...
me: oh right thanks for reminding me that my hair is on fire.
Rei Statue: ...
me: no? it's not? are ya sure?
Rei Statue: ...
me: yeah i guess not. what a silly thought, huh?
