There were also these two images in the game files, FYI. Just a drawing of Shinji's face and that guy in the hospital, both rough drafts or something of the sort.

Not sure if relevant but there's just something about the picture in the OP -Mana's expression, the light, the drops, her body, the sheer joy in the image- that makes it captivantingly beautiful.

I will have to check whether that nude image is in the Saturn version when I play it. The Saturn, after all, had more relaxed rules on what nudity was allowed: breasts and sex scenes with no naughty nether bits, until Sega rammed down the banhammer and limited things to breasts and naughty lingerie scenes. Which didn't prevent some companies from bringing out really risqué games under the later milder yellow 18+ label... -o-;

Anyway, Sega themselves also brought out some games with suggestive scenes...under the all-ages label, and since they made the Gainax games...

That's true that the nudity might be retained despite Sony game versions censoring images like that. Do let us know!

So these are the various versions and Japanese release dates of GoS:

I'm thinking that since the Sega Saturn and Playstation releases were so close, that they most likely shared the same content censoring decisions.

Keep us updated.

This makes me wonder how the censoring was propagated from version to version since there were so many releases.
Was it uncensored in 1997's PC release, then all other versions were censored,
or was it that only the PC versions were uncensored, etc.

I'll just bump this thread. Anyhow, extracting GOS Special Edition and found some more sketches, and a few other things, too.

An odd looking nude Asuka avatar, another silly one (from a new scene or a new ending, I think), a Mana pilot suit avatar, some more bald Asuka (upward this time), and Toku-san on the vending machine which I actually never noticed. Just a few things I wanted to post, nothing special, really.

The newer stuff looks like from GoS Special Edition which had new scenes and a new ending (Shinji and Mana moving in together, Asuka moves in with Kaji, too).
