One of the Angels hits it with an energy blast and you have an instant nuclear explosion. If NERV was out of business it would be because of radiation contamination.

To answer your question, even if NERV hadn't sabotaged the JET ALONE I seriously doubt it would have been able to take on an EVA OR AN ANGEL in battle. Other than being able to run on battery power for weeks on end, It didn't seem to have any advantages over an Evangelion.

And I know this dosen't mean anything, but it even LOOKED like a piece of crap.

JA couldn't have possibly fought the Angels as it lacked the ability to create an AT Feild. The only danger to Nerv than I can think of is that the Governments of the world might start spending their money for JA devolpment rather than on growing new arms for the Evangelions
