it could be anywhere on the earth. Everything was taken up into the Blackmoon, THEN was put back. The stuff in the black moon is about as homogeneous as it gets (duh, the point of instrumentality)

so one must consider, of all the beaches in the world, why did Asuka appear on the same one as Shinji?

Perhaps there is still that need for her Shinji, making that last scene all the more perverse

I'd say they're on the edge of the crater.

Doesn't that sand look similar? Besides GNR fell in the hole where the Geofront was.
