I'm willing to bet that they didn't decide to make 4 movies of the same exact script as the series (this is already evident after seeing 2.0). It's already been shown that they're going to be introducing new Evas to the series as well as new pilots early on in the storyline. Where this will take us and how it will effect the end of the series (Rei II's death, Asuka's "mind fuck," etc) is anyone's guess at this point.

But I'm thinking that they have a lot of ideas for the upcoming movies, and seeing as how so far it's been full of fan service I'm guessing that whatever will be in the next two movies will CHANGE EVERYTHING FOREVER!!!!
