Do we really need the same game ported on another system? How times can you port the same game more then twice? To think I thought the Budokai games where bad enough.

At least with the GoS1 game, it was the Special Edition release and that was only ported to PS2 before, I think.

With GoS2 I see your point though.

It's one of those text/dialogue adventures, like Girlfriend of Steel. Not fun if you don't know Japanese.

So what can people like me, who don't know Japanese do about that?
I'm an A/S shipper and Soryu and Shikinami are one in the same.

Okay, here are some interesting observations I have after getting the Limited Edition version of the PSP Special Edition port for GoS.

The PSP port of GoS Special Edition censors some nudity that was visible in the orignal version (I'm only guessing the PS2 port did this too): at the start of the game, Asuka's butt is shaded in. Also, when you pick the ending where Mana stays over at Shinji's, when her towel slips off, there's this lighting special effect in place of being able to see her breasts. Weirdly enough, the scene of Shinji showing off his butt in the showers after he gets chewed out by Gendo is left intact. Maybe it's to make us fangirls happy.

The added scenes from that PS2 port of the Special Edition aren't a whole lot, but they help add to the game experience overall at least. I thought the options menu at the start of the game and submenu is cute, too.

The new 4th ending from the PS2 port is bound to make a certain bearded Englishman happy: Shinji decides he just can't forget about Mana, he drowns in sorrows in coffee (eg, "Give me another one." "I think you've had enough." "I'll TELL you when I've had enough! Now give me another one!!" ;_; ) and sleeps like a bum outside on the garbage. Mana sees him, they stay over at her new place after Mana admits that she selfishly only thought of Musashi, and while Shinji seems to know Asuka likes/loves him, he prefers Mana. They become a couple (also, it might be implied they have sex, but vague scene is vague) and apparently end up living together since it's "a time of peace" (lol so the Angels just stop attacking?), Misato is living alone, and Asuka moved in with Kaji. Asuka bumps into them at one point and wishes Mana/Shinji the best. While the ending is cute with making Mana/Shinji a couple, it feels VERY surreal that they're able to actually be together (I kept expecting any minute for Shinji to wake up from dreaming this particular ending), and I personally feel the original 3 endings (they all result in Mana having to leave in some form: the Mana stays over end where she leaves by train the next day, apparently dying from the N2 Mine (Asuka end) or making a promise that she and Shinji would meet again (Kaji end)), capture the spirit of the game and returning to the series storyline better.

And (I have no idea how the PS2 port differs from the PSP port with this), after you beat the game with whatever ending, you have an image of watching scene replays of all the scenes in the game. I guess it's supposed to make up for a lack of an image gallery that GoS2 has.

Also, some pictures for those interested:

The limited edition items are a keychain of Asuka and a Commuter pass of Rei. Apparently the limited edition release of the GoS2 PSP port has the reverse for the available goods:

Looks awesome, SSD. I wish I had money to buy nice things like this. The 4th ending doesn't sound like something I'd enjoy. Sounds like a happy ending but not my kind of happy (aka. being with Asuka). And the censorship kinda pisses me off, I hate censorship.

Past week I got the Special Edition, too. The game is just what I expected, kind of boring gameplay but cool artworks.

The bonus items are ok.

The game is nice for the artwork itself as well as to see the difference between the original game and SE. I'm not gonna bother with getting GoS2 (since it's exactly the same as the other ports, it's just on PSP now) but if you get the bonus items for it, be sure to post pictures here. ;) (And personally I wanna save up for the Rebuild of Eva game once I hear whether or not it's good or if it sucks.)

The bonus items are ok.

I'm wearing mine right now.

I haven't played GoS2, so I will buy it too, the Special Edition if I can (I will post pictures here), and so will I do with Battle Orchestra Portable.

But I'm really looking forward to the Evangelion: Prologue game, I'm confident that it will be an amazing game. It's strange that they won't be releasing a special edition of it, though.

I'm wearing mine right now.

I haven't unsealed them yet. :w00t:

Something I'm confused about (screencap from Nico). This is from the PS2 version of the GoS2 game, the PSP port is pretty much the same from what I understand (in terms of how the illustrations look and such):

Compared to the PC version:

Why in the world are PS2 and PSP games subject to censoring of nudity (at least with the GoS and GoS2 Eva games, can't speak for other ones) that the PC versions aren't? I thought nudity in games isn't as big of a deal over there as long as it's not pornographic. :???:

I've noticed in the GoS game with Mana that there was censoring in the PSP port that the PC release wasn't subjected to (Asuka's butt is obscured, Mana's nudity is obscured in the scene her towel falls off)... Is it just stricter laws over time or something?

EDIT: Considering the "censored" versions of Eva games seem restricted to Sony game systems (PS2, PSP) I guess they'd be more concerned about censoring nudity than a PC version of a game is. At least according to some information I read about Sony, they tend to censor nudity more than Nintendo would. Context-depending it's understandable, but why censor for one company and not another, since violence is considered okay in games?
