I was simply quoting the man... but please (may be shot dead for moronic questions - they do exist), enlighten me...

spank the monkey, burp the worm etc. it slides in that catagory. the actual bishop part is the.....erm.....'bell end'. it kinda looks like a bishop's hat, i suppose. (don't want to fall into a 'your deformed' trap)

in the platinum editions on the opening credits therre's some Japanese text which comes up just before the end written in white with a black background.

anybody know what it means? or even what i'm talking about?

If it's the text that appears as Shinji is "ejected" by Unit-01, then it says something like "Created and directed by Hideaki Anno".

i'm not sure, but it doesn't come up along with something else- it's all alone as a frame. that might be it nevertheless so thanks.

Kantoku - Anno Hideaki

"Kantoku" is basically equivalent to "director". It's used as a title, as well -- it's common to see Anno referred to as "Anno-kantoku", or "Director Anno", in reference to NGE.
