Beatdown on Gendo

In the latest trailer, Gendo's face has bruises and his visor sparks indicating it's damaged. Anyone else see this? If this ia Shinji laying the smackdown he seems way out of character aside from that punch he delivered to Toji.

The thing is, Shinji already tried (but failed) to beat the shit out of his father in the manga issue when Touji don't survive this time around. To me, Shinji towards Gendo always appeared as a tickling bomb. But honestly? I don't think a punch can left such marks. It look more like something exploded in his face...

Midori could be from a completely different scene, with the editing made to make us think that she and Ritsuko are both screaming at the same thing together.

I'd guess someone shot Gendo in the visor, and the remaining scratches? I'm not sure. If those are bullets bouncing off Gendo's skull it means that Gendo really has gone full cyborg, Ghost in the Shell style.

I feel like something came out of Gendo's visor rather than him being shot in it. There's not any blood coming out of the hole and the marks on his face look more like scuffs or stains than the kind of splattering you'd expect from a gunshot. And look at the way the metal is puckered around the edge of the damaged portion of the visor. It's bubbled up around the hole and looks melted which isn't what you'd expect from a point of entry. Maybe he's learned the ancient art of eye beams?

Whichever scene it's from, Midori's rather nasty case of EoE-Face makes me concerned for her welfare.

Since it's pretty much the exact same "scene" from the trailer we are discussing, I'm gonna quote myself from the Midori thread:

I think Midori may actually be arguing with Misato and Ritsuko about letting Shinji pilot Unit 01, as she is frightened of him and what he can do inside an Evangelion. She may also be the one to have harmed (shot?) Misato.

When Shinji is brought on the Wunder deck she seems to be the one more disturbed by his presence (her eyes are twitching while the rest of bunnies are perfectly still). She is also the one bridge bunny doubting Misato's decision to counterattack the most, as she doesn't want to die yet.

She has a big distrust in Shinji and she also doesn't seem to blindly believe in Misato, so that would make sense to me. Shinji's aggressive reaction may not be to Gendo but to Midori/Ritsuko attacking Misato.

My personal guess is that Misato, Ritsuko, Shinji and Midori are in one scene, Gendo is a red herring and in a completely different scene with a Rei clone and Fuytsuki.

Maybe he had Asuka's angelic infection extracted from her eye and implanted into his own. After all, Gendo enjoys becoming one with angels.

There was a concept sketch that still showed him with his normal eyes underneath; I think it will be more of a "barrier symbolism" thing where we don't find out what he's really thinking/ his motivation until we see his eyes.

Not unlikely. I doubt that anyone is willingly walking to NeoNerv at this point.
Shinji was confused & duped the first time, and after being manipulated into doing something horrible yet again (at the cost of Kaworu's life) his disposition towards Gendo isn't likely to be friendly.

Perhaps at this point Shinji has already joined WILLE's side & he's come to confront Gendo along with Misato & co, the angry face being directed at him.
That's one way I could actually see them all being in the same scene, though I'm still not certain that they are -
and this will not simply end with Gendo being shot or taken into custody as that would be too predictable.

It definitely has the same blue as Asuka's eye, and Gendo has a history of eating tiny adamic things, so for the time, this is where my money is at, too

In 3.0, we see that he still has the case it's in, and that means he hasn't used it yet.
