So they're still going with the marketing with 27th as the deadline. But why? It's pretty obvious that will be postponed, so why waiting for the announcement?

^ Most likely the decision has to be made by Toho/Toei and not Khara. Evangelion 3.0+1.0 was expected to be their big summer earner and while I'm absolutely certain the June 27th date won't happen I think they haven't announced the delay yet for one of two reasons:

1. Toho/Toei are being foolish and hopeful. They may have a date on the calendar, like May 1st, and if things aren't looking up by that point then they'll make the change.

2. They've already decided to delay the film but they're looking at all the data and signs to see if they can announce a new concrete release date instead of just saying the film is delaying "indefinitely".

It's not an ideal scenario for anyone but a delay is understandable.

I think, even if it's a superelevated satire, Shin Godzilla is pretty much a dead-on description of not only the Japanese government, but all of those huge, ancient Japanese mega-corporations in general. They are also too slow and deceited to act quickly and accordingly.

Hence why it took so long for Japan to even acknowledge they have so many cases. Abe's effort to still hold the Olympics this year probably set the recovery back months.

I was a complete dufus to be as optimistic as I was a month ago apparently.

I still see no point in delaying it. Cinemas are a no for a while. Unless they don't mind releasing it in two years. Or they keep delaying it, with wishful thinking release dates every couple months.

That there is something more important going on doesn't mean the movie being delayed wouldn't be very unfortunate. If tragedies happening cancels that out, those happen always. We are just usually more lucky in the West and have gotten used to it.

Not only is the movie delayed, we probably won't even get a trailer. It's hard to believe there is a film, which is kind of heartbraking.
More than anything I feel sorry for Anno and co. They really don't deserve this.

Just glad Shin-chan is at least in the top ranking. Ritz not on the list is blasphemous as the absence of Miss Shogoki. Although I wonder, is it for the ENTIRETY of the franchise or the new movies is the list based on? Because it makes no damn sense the Bridge Bunnies be ranked so high.

It's funny, because NHK's recent Final Fantasy mega poll left fans feeling either pretty confused or happy (in the "best game" section, FF X beat out FF VII for best game) so I'm sure regarding best characters and best entries, this poll will leave Eva fans feeling the same.

Ogata-san and Miyamura-san on Twitter recently were sad how Shikinami is considered for the poll, but not OG Asuka Soryu. I'm sure (one) of the Reis will get top place for this event, though.

Sailor Star Dust: I'm so confused. So is the poll just for the new movies and not the old series? It wouldn't make sense to include Soryu if that's the case.

∆ Among the different categories (mecha, quotes) NGE is included.
Maybe they just see Asuka as Asuka, just as any character is basically a new version of themselves. Meanwhile Rei Q is actually separate from Rei Ayanami.

Edit: was going to order 3 of those Eva shirts, and then they tell me only UK shipping.
Just another disappointing day in 2020.
