For all the members here in the UK, Manga UK have uploaded a video their Facebook page showing what the Multi-Pack version is like. I'm glad to see what it looks like now, as I heard some US members didn't get what they ordered, thinking they would get both DVD and Blu-ray. I'm very excited to finally get my copy next week.

Woohoo, finally own the damned film  Little booklet that comes with it is nice, love me some character sheets. Not sure if it's been covered or not, but the booklet says that the final film is still called Evangelion New Theatrical Edition ://

It's been covered, and is also being discussed. (Anno will never cease to confuse us.)

Finally got my copy of 3.33 after so long. I'm so happy! Due to a problem with amazon this week, I ended up somehow getting two copies of it though, so not sure what to do with the other

Perhaps, pretty much the few friends I have that are into Eva already have it though. I may keep it and sell it later since its the collectors edition.

USians got it this week; I have two more weeks to wait.

For what it's worth I've seen a copy of it in a Forbidden Planet when I was in Middlesbrough last so some stores might have it in. Although they were selling it for £30, my Amazon Pre-Order is for £20 so probably best waiting.

Something i've noticed which i'm not sure whether or not if it's odd or not but...

Does it strike anyone else that in 3.33 the screen seems more tight, enclosed and smaller compared to the last two films where it takes up the whole screen? (If I rememeber correctly)

The first two films are 1.85:1, and this is 2.35:1. Is that what you are noticing, or do you mean something else?

(I just noticed that the MangaUK packaging says it's 1.85:1, which is wrong - unless it's letterboxed, I suppose, but I haven't checked.)

I mean how, for example compare the footage from 1.11 and 2.22 in this video, to the footage from 3.33. It doesn't take up the whole screen...?

3.33 was done in 21x9 (letterbox) aspect ratio instead of 16x9 (full screen) like the first two. I actually prefer 3.33's aspect ratio, it makes the film feel more cinematic. For some reason the box says it's 16x9, but that's definitely not true as there are black bars across the top and bottom of the screen.

It's not called Cinema Scope for nothing. Funny enough, Anno mistakenly writes that all four films are shot in 1:2.35 ratio instead of 16:9 in the Q booklet.
Please just call me Ian, "TheFrisky" is more of a title.

The numbers we have been giving are the ratio of the width to height of the picture, expressed in different ways. The Eva films have different ratios; but your screen has a single physically fixed ratio, so part of the screen can't be used when the film doesn't match it. That means that films, like 3.33, designed for larger "wide screens" in the cinema actually display smaller on your fixed-width screen at home.

I've never liked that 'more cinematic' idea. Hate watching films on my monitor, makes almost 1/3rd of the screen black. Wish everything was just fullscreen like most anime is  I always feel like it should be fullscreen, since IMAX scenes in films take up the whole screen. It just always looks nicer.

Got around to watching the dub, it was pretty good. The intro scene I thought was terrible, Asuka saying 'four eyes crony' was just cringy. Mari sounded like she had a different voice actor most of the time. Kaworu and Shinji scenes were kinda funny, the scene where Kaworu shows Shinji the outside was pretty good, especially for Kaworus actor.
