I must have not been paying enough attention or just don't remember.

Not everyone can be as anal as I was about 3.33.
I mean I even flew over to Tokyo to watch it in cinemas. Not to sound too crazy - I always wanted to visit Japan anyways, I had time and saw it as a good incentive to do that.

No way. Remember the trailers with the incongruous CGI of the insides of the piano? How were we meant to relate those to Eva without any other clue? - it was completely intriguing while giving nothing whatsoever away.

I'd do the same if I had the money. I almost bought the Japanese BD for like $60. Glad I waited til this passed Tuesday.

Re: Possibly bad news for Shin?
Compared to the advertising of 2.0, 3.0's advertising was very sudden and out of nowhere, especially since they went dark for six months after the initial website change announcing the subtitle to showing the Eva Extra-08 announcing it's release date.
I believe there are even some sources on here with Anno/Khara stating the original, original plan was to have all four movies done in a year. Production changes with the scope of the project. I'm pretty sure Khara's original intent was to have Final out in 2013 like they had showing on the site for a while, but after what happened with Anno, they realized that it would be a considerable amount of time before work on movie would progress.
Gendo'sPapa wrote:On New Years Day 2012, Khara posted a graphic of Asuka in her space suit - complete with cat ears - and released the film's title was 'You Can (Not) Redo.' I can't remember if it was there too but I think they're graphic also said something along the lines of "Coming out in 2012".
Then over the summer, in July I think, they had an event where they screened a preview that gave out the release date of November 17th.

^^The original plan for rebuild was for 1.0 out in 2007 then 2.0 out a year later in 2008. Which it was delayed till 2009.

For a good laugh, the whole year before 3.0 hit theaters the Japanese Evangelion website said that Final was 100% going to be released in 2013.

Projecting a video with the release date of the film on the side of a building during an outdoor event is way more epic marketing than anything Hollywood could ever come up with.

Re: Possibly bad news for Shin?
Technically it was there only for just under 11 months.
Noone at khara is interested in trolling. This is a dumb idea that needs to die.
Plans simply change. The 2013 date was announced on Jan 1 2012. At that point they still had 10 months of full scale production on Q. We know now that that had left everyone utterly exhausted and they made the very obvious decision to take a break and work on other things because they've been working on Eva almost non-stop for 6 years by that point.
Nope. The cat helmet was only seen publicly for the first time on Jan 1st 2012.
The taped up plugsuit we saw much earlier in 2011 but not the helmet.

Right, I was thinking of another picture without her helmet.

Honestly, I hope the last movie doesn't come out for about 2 1/2 to 3 years.

Re: Possibly bad news for Shin?
It's already going to be four years this November since Q was released. Honestly, why would it need to wait for seven years to come out? That would be more painful to Khara than the fans since it will always linger in the back of their minds that they need to finish it, not to mention the fans constantly harking on them about it, or Anno's age finally taking it's toll on him. It's better to finish it now and finally be done with it for good than just leave it adrift for no reason.

Re: Possibly bad news for Shin?
Art does not follow a schedule.
Plus, four ANIMATED movies in ten years is a rather stunning achievement! If you've ever worked animation - which I did for a few months, I wasn't an animator but I was around those who were - it's an agonizingly slow process that can't be rushed.
People need to chill the fuck out. Anno had the chance to make a dream project - a Godzilla movie - and he took it AS HE SHOULD. We'll get Final when we get it. No one here is OWED a movie.
Oh and Anno is 56, for fuck's sake let's not make idiotic statements like "age taking it's toll on him". Anyone can die at any moment regardless of age and a life is worth more then any movie. Ugh, fandoms.

Re: Possibly bad news for Shin?
No one is sitting here and saying he should drop what he's doing and finish Eva right here and now. But he himself said in his own words that Eva is more of a huge work load than something he is currently doing for fun. If creating a work like a feature length movie is that much of a chore, it would be in everyone's best interest if Eva was finished so they can move onto something new and not be constantly tied to one series. In fact, that was the whole point in him founding Khara to begin with. Don't just blindly assume people want him to finish Eva just for themselves.
Once again, if making such a movie is that much of a strain as you stated, you shouldn't be doing something like it when you become more tired and weary. Nor should people automatically jump to the conclusion that their reasoning is an idiotic statement. We all know who here needs to chill.
This has nothing to do with anything anyone has stated. No, I don't expect him to croak right after Godzilla, but I doubt he'd be happy still working on Eva in his sixties.

I don't see why you need to be talking like this, people on this forum are just pointing out actual time, but most including myself agree with you. Also I'd point out that no one on this thread has said anything about being "OWED a movie."
Hell he himself said it could take 4-6 years from when Q was released(being 2018 at the latest).

I admit my reaction was excessive.
I just got very very VERY irked at the "Anno's age taking a toll on him" line.

^ I haven't seen that around. Must be something I'm missing.
We just know that 3.0 mentally taxed him(I mean like a 25% sales tax if you know what I'm saying), and working on Godzilla is a way for him to focus on something else.

Re: Possibly bad news for Shin?
I made the aforementioned comment.
I didn't mean what I said as "Anno is too old to make stuff." I meant it as, at that age, you really don't want any more continuous projects. Not everyone is like Miyazaki who jumps in and out of retirement well into his late seventies. Most people who develop content around that age would rather work on single instance project with maybe a sequel because they themselves don't know when they're going to wake up and feel too taxed to continue. 55 is by no means a easy age to work with. When he's (as he put it himself) splitting his soul up for several years" working on one project, you really want him to be completely done with it so it doesn't stay lingering in his mind.
I never intended to come across as being upset over Final being delayed. In all honesty, I'm more hyped up for his Godzilla than Final, simple because after twenty years of Eva what's left to pull out of the hat? I will be honest here for a bit and admit there is some selfishness to wanting Final out though, but more in the sense that I finally want to move on from Eva. At this point, three and a half years after Q, I feel like it's more of a drag getting through Eva content because there's nothing left to discuss about it other than Final speculations, which will be irrelevant once the movie finally is out.
