Heh, somehow the lack of Connery in the Obviously-Supposed-to-be-Connery role made it even more distracting to me.

Maybe it's my personal taste, but I've found the Craig films the most palatable in the franchise in a good long while. I welcome more with open arms.

And Waltz, of course. Seems so obvious in retrospect that he should play a Bond villain that I'm a little surprised it hasn't happened sooner. ^_^
I made music and a pilot for you, which I hope you enjoy.

I also made a feature-length movie, which has nothing to do with Evangelion, but you can check out if you'd like to do something different for a while.

The Bond films that I grew up with were the Brosnan ones. I was introduced to the Bond series in general from playing GoldenEye 007 at a friend's house when I was around 8 or 9, but didn't start getting into the films until TNN (now Spike) started running marathons of them in 2001/2002.

Looking back on the films from the Brosnan era with the hindsight I have now, with the exception of GoldenEye, they're probably the worst films handed to any Bond actor and the ones I rewatch the absolute least. Those films are basically what happens when the worst trends of Hollywood blockbusters are integrated into making the Bond films more appealing to the masses and are almost utterly forgettable. I'm actually kind of amazed that Purvis and Wade kept their jobs after how utterly shit Die Another Day was and how botched the third act of The World is Not Enough was. Actually, I think the fact that they've been bringing on better writers to guide their scripts (Paul Haggis for Casino Royale and John Logan for Skyfall) has played a huge role in why Craig's films have been much better than Brosnan's. When Purvis and Wade are left on their own, they write Die Another Day.

It's a shame because Brosnan and his films could have been so much more fondly remembered if they were just better written. Still, he did have one legitimately good Bond movie, so his run wasn't a total disaster.
Among the people who use the Internet, many are obtuse. Because they are locked in their rooms, they hang on to that vision which is spreading across the world. But this does not go beyond mere ‘data’. Data without analysis [thinking], which makes you think that you know everything. This complacency is nothing but a trap. Moreover, the sense of values that counters this notion is paralyzed by it.

Couldn't agree more. It's a shame, because it's never anything Brosnan is doing per se, it's just that the movies are, um, bad. Heh, we came to it in similar fashions, actually. I started with the series after playing The World is Not Enough on N64, so that movie has a fonder tinge for me, but after rewatching it over the holidays... well, ya know...

Mine was Die Another Day. Watched it when I was, like, 9. Liked it so much that I went and bought the games Agent Under Fire, Nightfire and From Russia With Love. The last one was my favorite. I don't know how I'd feel about it if I watched it now. Probably unfavorably.

I absolutely agree, and I believe that Purvis and Wade intentionally tried their best to kill the Bond franchise.

The bad news is that Purvis and Wade have been brought back to do rewrites on the Spectre script.

It makes me wonder what kind of dirt they have on the producers?

I'm already getting awesome vibes from this. Christoph Waltz as Blofeld is like a dream come true plus Ralph Fiennes as M. I just hope it lives up to expectations.

I have high expectations from SPECTRE. The last three movies all delivered (maybe except QOS).

Anyone know if this will be the last Daniel Craig film as James Bond?

Isn't he contracted for 5 Bond films? I'll need some backing on this statement though, can't remember where I heard it.

Definitely looking forward to Waltz as the villain though. Expectations are high enough for me to be actually excited for once (I took too long to see Skyfall so there wasn't much hype beforehand, probably because I had seen Quantum on it's release and wasn't too thrilled.)

http://www.mi6-hq.com/sections/articles ... _deal.php3

Here is when his overall deal for five films was announced. But Barbara and Michael have said that beyond that, the role is his for as long as he wants it. They seem to be really happy with him and his movies are doing COLOSSAL business. Skyfall was the first Bond film to break the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office and beat Thunderball's record for highest grossing Bond film when adjusted for inflation.I can only see Spectre doing just as well or better than that financially because of all the positives the film has going for it already to generate massive amounts of hype.

So, after Craig does his 5th and final contracted film in 2017, I'd expect one of the following scenarios to play out:

A) He calls it quits, thanks everyone at Eon, and departs from the role, beginning the hunt for a new James Bond.

B) He wants to quit, but Barbara and Michael ask him back and his agents negotiate a huge pay raise for his return.

C) He wants to continue doing more Bond films and gets a new contract and a big raise.

So he will do at least another one. Good. Along with Sean Connery and Pierce he is my favorite. Hope he sticks around for at least 2 more films.

He's my favorite, far and away. QoS was a little off but Casino Royale really is a great movie. People wining that it was Bourne-ifying Bond weren't paying attention.

100% agree. Casino Royale is top tier, followed by Skyfall which was amazing, QOS was so and so but still miles better then the pre-Daniel Craig movies. First time i am hearing people comparing Casino Royale to Bourne lol. I never noticed any similarities.

I think Daniel Craig is the perfect Bond and in reality if the Bond-agent existed, it wouldn't be far off in terms of style, behavior and expression.

It's too bad Pierce was chosen as Bond when they were still making these movies a bit silly (gadgets, classic story, not the best scenario) with the exception of Goldeneye.

Got some some questions for y'all.

1. What would you personally pick as the best Bond movie?

I've only seen 10 out of the 24, but I'd say On Her Majesty's Secret Service, From Russia With Love and Goldfinger are my favorites at the moment.

2. Best Bond actor?

I'll go with the most boring answer ever and say Connery.

3. Best Bond girl?

Diana Rigg as Teresa. Only because she has been the most memorable one so far.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'll come back and answer these questions again when I finally work my way through the remaining 14 (16, if I feel like watching the non-Eon productions). I'll probably re-watch a few of those other 10 too. For now, I'd like to see your responses to these questions.

From a film buffs standpoint? I would say it's a tie between Goldfinger and Skyfall.

As a fanboy? Moonraker.

2. Best Bond actor?

A tie between Dalton and Craig. Why? Because their versions of Bond are cold hearted professionals, like you'd expect a real spy to be. (It's a shame Dalton's Bond only got two movies)

Most of the other Bonds are semi-serious, but more often than not they're played for camp (especially in the case of Moore and Connery). Not so much in the case of Craig and Dalton.

Though I will say as far as appearances go, Pierce Brosnan was as close to the way he was described in the original novels.

3. Best Bond girl?

Judi Dench as M.

1. Casino Royale

2. Pierce Brosnan is my personal favorite but Craig is doing a very good job. I think that if Brosnan was the Bond today with the same production, the same director and staff etc he would be the best.

3. Ooooh that's a tough one...... can't decide. All of them!

I can't just pick one movie out of 20+ entries for best Bond film, but I'll narrow it down to five:

-Casino Royale
-Goldfinger
-On Her Majesty's Secret Service
-The Spy Who Loved Me
-The Living Daylights

Bond Actor:

I think Connery's performance is legendary and iconic, but I think that it honestly depends on what type of mood I'm in. If I want a humorous, fantastical, tongue-in-cheek character, I'll watch a Moore film. If I want a more hard-edged movie, I'll go with Dalton or Craig.

Bond Girl:

I tend to prefer stronger female leads who know how to hold their own and aren't damsels in distress.

-Carey Lowell from Licence to Kill (she is so fucking badass)
-Eva Green from Casino Royale
