I know that. I'm just thinking, OK, there was Near Third Impact, so maybe there would be (at most) a month or two until the next Angel comes along.

You do have a point: in the original series, Arael had a perfect chance to start 3I in the days following Zeruel's attack. Both Eva-00 and -02 were out of commission, so it would probably face very little resistance. Of course, it's impossible to know when the Angels would decide to show up.

Sequel theory makes even less sense now. We have present and future. We dont need an alternate universe.
