Mass Production Eva action figures

Postby DrThomas » Wed Oct 17, 2012 9:49 am

Does anyone have size comparison pictures of the different Mass Production Eva action figures? I have both of the earlier Kaiyodo versions - the one with the destroyed Unit 02 base, and the one with the wings - and want to know if any of the Revoltech ones are even close in scale. Basically I want to get a third Mass Production Eva but chasing down those Kaiyodo ones is now an expensive proposition, and the Revoltech are a cheaper alternative with more articulation but I can't gauge the scale and whether they'd look fine with the earlier Kaiyodo.

Revoltech is Kaiyodo.
Like you I want a good MP figure for a decent price, my lame solutions are either to wait a new coming figure of quality or to check Ebay for a good deal.
Good luck.

Recreating Evangelion Revoltech figures in plastic or resin?

Postby Restriktion » Wed Oct 24, 2012 4:17 am

Hello there, EvaGeeks.

Yesterday, while playing with my awakened EVA-01 (RY #076), i somehow managed to break the head's horn by accident. I could attach it again with super glue, but it wasn't the same.

Now i got to be almost paranoidly careful about my toys, but as the word toy might imply, i want to play with them.

So i thought about re-casting the single parts in plastic or resin, painting them and reconstruct them by adding Revoltech joints. For this very purpose, i disassembled my EVA-02 figure (RY #006), down to the lower body portion. This is the only part where i found myself unable to extract the joints, does anyone here have recommendations if, and how to do so? I am pretty sure that they are Revoltech joints in there, but i may be wrong.

Also, would it be worth the time and work invested in re-casting the sculpture parts, or is this an overly complicated process? Or is this entirely subjective and can you recommend instructions on how to do so? I only know that member arael succesfully replicated a Revoltech Spear of Longinus.

Next, i would like to know if resin or plastic would be a suitable material, or would the joints just fall off?

Thanks in advance,
Restrikt-ion

Crazy news out of Japan concerning our beloved angels from the Rebuild series. Bandai Tamashi Nations has recently unveiled a whole line-up of 6-8 inch scale figures for most of the major angels that have appeared thus far in the Rebuild movies Eva 1.0 and 2.0. These are part of the SH MonsterArts toy line from Bandai which as you know has been mostly focusing their attention on Godzilla figures up until now!

Take a look at these and how these figures are actually made to scale with Robot Tamashi Evangelion figures.

It's nice to see a figure of Clockiel for once.

I wonder if we might get an official name?

Sachy seems to have good number of articulations (for a rather unconventional model).
It is nice they made these cherubs to the size of RS /Revoltech figures.

To people who are interested on acquiring a Medicom RHA figure of Mari, here is a "clearance " of this figure in BBTS, dropping the price from 200$ to 120$.

So... Does Ramiel folds or something...?

I find it rather simple and knowing Bandai, not worth its price...

But cool sculpt... Specially on Clockiel...

i can see a hinge and that star shaped nucleoid inside, so maybe it opens and unfold that agonizing cristal state, maybe it comes with parts to swap.

DAT ZERUEL

Sachiel looks especially nice too!

Update: Finally pulled the trigger on the Unit-01 RAH. Ouch. Already have a little of the buyer's remorse, haha. It'll so be worth it though once I have it in my hands!

Going to reserve the Unit-02 one pay day next week.

Having just realised I won't be charged for the items until they're shipped, I went ahead an pre-ordered the Eva-02 RAH.

Have to make sure I put that money aside so I can actually afford the buy when the time comes, haha. Ugh, why won't they just take my goddamn money?!

That's one big arse rifle, man. Keen to see exactly how all that equipment works in Q!

Haha...
I won't buy any of the RAH...

Far beyond my budget specially now that my Eva 04-Mark 06 set arrived... The idiots at Mandarake declared it as $300 bucks and I had to paid $50 of import tax!

Ya its cool, unfortunatly half of them are going to be tamashii website exclusives. I think Sachiel,Zeruel and Tunniel are the only normal retail ones.
