Yeah, it's very deliberate. If it were the case that Asuka's role is very small in 3.0, then it's an intentional bait and switch with the marketing. Which, yeah I mean it's Anno, so anything's possible. But even so, not being Japanese means I'm not as captive an audience for that trick to work.

If her role is meant to be very small what would be the point of having her survive Bardiel for that matter?

3.0 needs its token grand scale action sequence.

You wouldn't necessarily need Asuka for that. Saving her for later just to shelve her after a brief space battle sounds like a bunch of mumbo-jumbo trash to me.
Why do they even want the Loc-Nar? All it does is melt you.

My money is on this being the first 5-10 minutes of the movie. I also wouldn't count on seeing ANYTHING from the 2.0 end trailer. With a production this long, those script ideas have probably been canned.

I'm standing by my belief that 3.0 is going to open with a flashback showing Yui getting absorbed into Unit 01 during the synchro test. A young crying Shinji watching on.

If anything, Asuka going all superhero after coming out of a coma strikes me as mid movie or third act stuff.

And, horribly unrealistic if you consider someone should just shrug off getting mind raped by a space parasite, got to feel what it was like to be mutilated, and the possible loss of an eye. With the additional bonus of being considered a specimen.

I cannot really post any decent speculation other than the guess that my mind might explode all over the walls waiting for this.

whoa haven't posted something here in forever.

Among one of the things I'm anticipating in 3.0 is how the characters develop before getting engaged in the final conflicts of Rebuild, especially Asuka and how she comes to terms with the effects of Bardiel upon her, both physical and mental.

Bonus points if Asuka manages to punch Ritsuko in the face in the process.
Okay, so plot compression I can take. Maybeee the gratuitous fanservice too, though it's quite annoying and illogical (Why does Misato bring her phone into the shower?). But allowing Colonel Sanders to dress up as a cardboard copy of Lilith's legs? I'll never forgive you, Khara.

Oh man, I cracked up when everyone was clapping at the end and some guy in the background said "Congratulations!"
Utena figures out why the duelists are dueling but what the hell kind of answers does she get? "Because I want to find the power of miracles, I'm going to chop bitches with a sword so I can get a creepy aspie girlfriend who waters roses and shit. which will grant me the power of miracles. I KNOW THIS GODDAMNIT DON'T ASK HOW" -Azathoth

I will watch this movie as illegally-soon as possible. Period.
It's too late to pry away.

Yes July 14th is when movie tickets go on sale. You can buy tickets way in advance in Japan because the theaters have set schedules that they stick to.

The Japanese release date for the film will be November 17th 2012. However, where will this movie get its international premier? The only other large international film festival in the world that is remotely important between now and November 17th would be in Toronto and Venice.

I hope I get lucky this year and see Evangelion 3.0 making its international debut at the Toronto International Film Festival. Fingers crossed!!! :)

What I can´t seem to stop thinking about is what Kaworu Nagisa said in that last scene. It was something along the lines of "Shinji this time I will make you happy".

..."THIS TIME"...is it implying that somehow all this happened sometime in the past?

What I´m thinking now is that maybe the rebuild is set after the first series, like, after the whole mindrape depressive ending the first series had, the universe somehow rebooted itself and now everything´s happening all over again...

...maybe it´s all crazy talk, I dunno xd

I´m just intrigued with the sentence´s significance.

Also I was very impressed by this Shinji, he totally made up for the past one.

This has been discussed extensively in other threads and the most controversial talking point of Rebuild. It's a can of worms you do NOT want to open outside of a dedicated thread.

There's all the latest discussion of the theory.

Exactly, I think 3.0 is all going to be about Asuka coming to terms with her weaknesses, and understanding them too.

I just realised. After all the time she spent insisting she didn't need others help and then accepting others help in 2.0 she's now fighting on her own again.

Funnily enough she seems to be okay.
