What's your current desktop wallpaper?

Yeah. You read right. This is for everything that doesn't have anything to do with Eva.

You make it pretty easy because of the filename.

It may be weird, but I'm glad to have a computer at home, I can put nerdy Evangelion wallpapers on it.

I used to have a black rock shooter image on my desktop, but I had to get rid of it. I run a modified Metacity window manager under Gnome so that all of my 16 desktops are just transparent urxvt terminals. This has worked fine for a long time as long as I picked very low contrast backgrounds that either favored the blue or red part of the spectrum, otherwise text gets hard to read.

I thought that maybe my eyes were getting shot, maybe "drinking yourself blind" wasn't so much of an urban legend as I thought as it has been getting harder and harder to make out my 11 point fixed font on my 1920x1200 400NIT laptop display. Or maybe my eyes are just going bad, for 2 decades people have been telling me I set my fonts too small and that I'd make myself go blind, and now I'm actually thinking they were right. So now I sport a solid color background, almost black with a little bit of red.

Hours of more work, it didn't seem to be helping much so I figured maybe it was the contrast of my display. The nvidia control panel has a few sliders but I don't want to make the display look like crap, finally, I turned down the brightness significantly and eureka, the eye-strain of reading screenfulls of tiny text went away. Moral of the story, 400NIT displays = AWESOME for image manipulation and watching movies, but way too bright for doing any real work.

I use Wallpaper Slideshow and have filled my wallpaper folder with about 500 images that change every few seconds. It's awesome.

It's obvious what anime this is, so no guessing necessary. If you do, a pox upon your house.

Same thing here, and I have to do the 20/20/20 rule; yeah, I'm having eyestrain of late. Will tweak the brightness tonight, and might have to save up money for a pair of new glasses and a flatpanel display.

I watched it just before I started Macross Frontier
That shot is from the last episode of the OVA, towards the end.
I thought it was awesome but I'm not sure what I think is better, Macross Zero or Plus.

I guess you can blame Xard for getting me into Macross.
