I just submitted my first artwork into DA and put my first Eva Fanart up into the Fanart thread in the fandom forum. A pic of Asuka washing Shin-chan's back. Give it a look and let me know what you think.

I'm getting the feeling that nobody cares about my silly poetry, but I'm working on my first Garland Cinquain and discovering what a bitch they are to do well. It isn't hard to come up with 22 syllables, but it's hard to come up with 22 syllables when everyone REALLY counts, and it's nearly impossible when you have to multiply that by six (132 syllables) with a seventh being a combination of the other 132 where how they come together counts even more...
Anyway, here's my first attempt, but I have a feeling I may make some changes:
Passing
A cloud above
Lonely floats—becoming
It rains below, cleaves, and sinks through
The Earth
Crawling
From here to there
Slowly moving—learning
Horizons stretch, straighten upward
Erect
Standing
From still to start
Transitory—stasis
To run or fly? Time and being
Are one
Walking
From there to here
Quickly learning—moving
But sleep is still, restful moments
Revive
Pausing
What’s done is done?
Same old state this—being
That time and rest, moments wasting
Too soon
Looking
Around and back
Knowing time is—lost from
A being, lost. Only found when
Away
Passing
From here to there
Transitory—stasis
But sleep is still—moments wasting
Away

Some time ago, I began a continuation of an author's story on Fanfiction.Net "Moving On" A NGE/Tenchi Muyo crossover. I kinda got lazy, and lost interest ultimately with it, but am sort of considering picking it back up again. http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4382579/1/bMoving_b_On_bRevisited_bI've ran into a brick wall and am wondering where I am wanting to go with it and what may be the best way to proceed. I would appreciate any critiques, suggestions, and constructive criticism.

SSD is (not) getting discouraged about her passions.
This is just me venting. Obviously I can't provide links so check the "usual places" including my MF sig.
So, I'm probably infamous for having translated the hilarious H-doujin Nerv's Longest Day at the start of the year.
My most recent perverted translation offering is Love Cask (which isn't as funny but...) and it hasn't been getting much attention in places I posted. I just feel like I'm in one of those situations--similar to working on a story then barely getting any reviews once said story is posted--where if I work my ass off on something and people don't give feedback, why should I even bother?
I'm well aware my translations along with my writings (not even talking about porn translations/writing, just in general.) aren't the greatest thing ever; they're just something I do because I like it. At the same time, I do like getting feedback to know what I did right and wrong as well as how I can improve.
Perhaps translating--similar to writing--is just a thankless job and I haven't realized that until now. I don't know.

Lots of stuff you do on the internet's a thankless job. Especially something like translating doujinshi. People take it and go "yea thanks now I wantz this one!" Just one of those thing's I guess.
SPOILER: Show
Thank you for all of your translating SSD. I appreciate it. And I love your A/S fanfics and lemons. I do. Thank you very much for everything you've been doing!!

Ah, it's okay. We've (and by that, I mean translators and writers) have all had that moment at one point or another. Hell, The Long and Winding Road has been up for three months at four locations and I've had a grand total of four reviews (all of them at only one place). It really chaps my ass after a three-year hiatus to get such little recognition (I'd even take some negative ones).
But don't let it getcha down, just know that there are readers (of either) that do appreciate the hard work. It's that thought that helps me out in similar instances.

Awww, well, thanks. I guess leave it up to me to work so hard at an art-form whose level of appreciation is at an all-time low and diminished to the point of irrelevancy...

I'm hand correcting a story that I typed during a power outage in June. I've decided that before I finally finish Lokey, I need a break, so I'm going to finally type this bitch up on a word processor. I'm barely on page ten out of thirty and I find the whole thing to be absolutely revolting. Okay, the whole scenario is that my ironic author avatar is un-ironically writing about his Gary Stu suddenly becoming incredibly desperate and indulging in one of his sick, deplorable masturbatory fantasies while practically drowning in the broken reservoir of his own emotions. At four pages, I already feel like I know way too much about this character than is comfortable to know, and it really does read like a disturbing look into someone's sick mind.
The kicker being that it's my mind.
I don't why this sickens me as much as it does. Either because I naturally find my own personality repugnant, which can't be true, seeing how much I love the sound of my own voice in my head; or maybe because it reminds me of that most desperate time in my life that I never want to remember. Of course, it could just be that the act of critiquing authorial indulgence through irony is very easy to confuse with plain old authorial indulgence. I'm not sure. I just know that I need someone else to read it and for them to tell me how disgusting they find it, because the self is a terrible judge of its own character.

"Now, from Nature we obtain abundant information about ourselves, and precious little about others. About the woman you clasp in your arms, can you say with certainty that she does not feign pleasure? About the woman you mistreat, are you quite sure that from abuse she does not derive some obscure and lascivious satisfaction? Let us confine ourselves to simple evidence: through thoughtfulness, gentleness, concern for the feelings of others we saddle our own pleasure with restrictions, and make this sacrifice to obtain a doubtful result." -The Divine Marquis

Been drawing a fair bit more than I have in awhile the last few days. Unfortunately work often taps much of my creativity in visual art so I don't do it on a hobby level nearly as much as I used to.
This actually isn't /that/ recent. I've had this character floating around in my work for years now. Part of a much larger world I'm finally starting to write stuff for. Planning on doing some sort of graphic narrative could be a fairly normal comic, could be something more like a children's book for adults lacking any word bubbles.
The one place I do still sketch a lot is on whiteboards. This was done in the kitchen while I was waiting on my tea to steep. I think this is the first time I have ever taken a photo of my whiteboard sketches.
Same world as the guy in the first post, different character. You might note from the undersketching that Kris here is in fact a dude in drag. This drawing was done in Adobe Illustrator as was the first image.
This is an actual real physical sketch. Did this in my little 5x7 sketchbook while at the hair salon where I get my hair colored (bleached) and was done while I was waiting on the color to take. Drawn with ballpoint pen if you can't tell.
Also thinking about maybe doing another Spook Dicks faux movie poster. The first (from around 3 years ago) was about zombies, I'm thinking this second is about Lovecraftian sea monsters (mostly just so I can draw Berry in a Bikini). It's Steve the Chupacabra driving the boat and Berry in the parasailing rig with a rifle.
I was thinking at first the sea monsters would be on islands risen from the sea floor with big obelisk monuments on them similar to the Lovecraft story Dagon. That might maybe be too confusing and it would just be better to have them rising up out of the water and ditch the islands.

Not sure but I do know that those sketches in my sketchbook I did in about 20-25 minutes as that's how long the color had to sit in my hair.
edit: actually I can tell you how long the original Spooky Dicks poster took. I did the first planning sketch on October 13th 2007 (hah, very fitting). I didn't actually finish it until March 9th 2008. I sort of lost track of it and never finished it then came back to it at a later date.

I've been thinking I need to write my first erotic poem, and I'm gathering together some ideas for it. I think I've got some good stuff, but I haven't even bothered with trying to put them together yet.
