Sup peoples!
This is my first time here, big time Eva Freak! Happen to be a 3D animator and was a little discouraged by some of the 3d models I'd seen, like noone wanted to take the time and treat our beloved Evangelion with a little love and respect. On the other hand I've seen some truely great works also so I've decided to attempt to join the ranks and make a kick ass true to form representation of "The Purple One". Not an easy subject to model by any means ("organic hardware"!!! yikes). Regardless of skill level always commend my fellow freaks for getting some 3d out there for us all to enjoy.
Being a Monkey-n00b I hope I'm posting in the right place.
Here's some pics of my start at the infamous Unit 01, hope you guys dig it so far and always feel free to coment good or bad, I don't take much personal and input is always good.
(That is of course if this is acceptable here, no defined "Gallery" section so I don't want to be posting work in progress if this is not an intended use of the forums, and please accept my appologies before hand if so and please feel free to redirect if necessary.
Enough blah, blah. blah...! Let the games begin

And my hat's off to Aaron Clark for a superiorly infromative site!
Hope you all enjoy.

I'm pretty sure that Reichu will be delighted. She's said on several occasions how nice it would be to see a good quality 3D model of an Evangelion. She specialises in her own "3D representations", of course (super sculpey), which I'm sure you'll see if you are around for long.
Excellent work so far. are you planning to release the actual model file at any stage? Are you planning to give it a "skeleton" so that it can be poseable? It looks really good, the side views slightly more so than the front, for some reason. I for one hope you keep going and model the rest of her.

It all looks great so far! What are you basing things off? A model or show shots?
I think the most organic parts of the hardware would be, the gloves, boots and neck, and of course the curling abdomen. i take it your not going to have the core burst forth from the chest a la #26'! Just one point, when you come to do the shoulder plates/pylons/binders perhaps you should make them "detachable" in some way for flexibility, as they come of in EoE.

Thanks for all the love peoples!
Unfortunately I've got caught up in some other 3d work so 01 had to hit the back burner. But "Ee'll be bachk!"
Another quick, couldn't pin point the conversation on th "height" and/or "size" of the Evangelion units. I know, i know, 40 - 200 meters, 70 - 96,000 tons Ganax to Super Robot Wars!
But we techy, engineery, even ObsessiveMathFreaks can see the problem with this, was the guy who robbed you 4 years old or 20 years old? Little too large of a tolerance for me. Anyway, I've been working on "The Evangelion Height Inquisition" (purely me, unfortunatelly I don't think I can get Gainax to pay me for dispelling thier "mystery mass" physics system they seem to be utilizing)
I have a definative height and have even come to a standard weight all compiled from offical material, to the best of my knowlegde.
Sol, OMF: Yep yep, I actually hope, will take for ever of course, to some day make my own music video with this. When it's done it will be fully textured, rigged, and ready to go Berserker!!!
Part of my intrest is detail and functionallity, so yes I will make the paldrons detachable, in order to facilitate the use of the short range Positron 20x Rifle. They will also have the functioning sheath system that opens to reveal the Progressive Knife.
Thanks to H.O.G. and Hamster!!!
Choco, congrats man, your gonna love it. Imma Lightwaver but I have been teaching myself a little Maya, quite the beast but you just gotta get past the interface blindness and just apply thise skillz, can wait to see you drop some new hotness on us!
Props from the Mokey himself, and be carfull what you wish for, that back mouse button's a biatch with no thumbs, your down to one
I will try to drop in as often as I can an once I can get back at 01 you all will be the first to know.
Thanks too all for such kind comments.
If your interested here is a thread of my current project. Choco, would be great for you, and anyone else interested in 3d to get in on some of the boards out there, just as this one is, they have great resources for all kindsa learning.

I recommend You speek to bracer jack. He did moddle all 3 units. I had the pleasure of meeting the guy when I was in singapore last. He has done some awsome 3d work and are full 3d working modles.
I have a copy if you would like some screens of different poses but unfortunately I cant give them to you. Part of a free trade we did with each other.
