After finishing my first Atari 2600 game, which was rather simple in terms of gameplay (standard fare for a 2600 game), I decided I want to make something more complex and elaborate next. One idea I had that I'm interested in doing is an adaptation of Yamashita's proposed ending - in other words, a game in which Unit 01 fights werewolves and, eventually, FORTUNE. So far, I've only made a sprite for Unit 01. I think she's holding a gun or something.
I may end up making Unit 01 entirely purple, though, to save room for other things that would be impossible if she were more than one color.
I'd say she's still pretty recognizable.
Anyway, suggest any ideas you have. I figured I'll make it a platform game. If I make Unit 01 only one color, she'll be able to shot weapon, so maybe I could make it a Mega Man-style game (except with much lower-quality graphics and no scrolling). I'll try to make the game as long and challenging as I can within a 32kb limit. Then, once I'm finished, I'll release the ROM online for free. I also want to see if I can get a limited number of game cartridges produced and sell them to Evangelion/2600 collectors for exorbitant prices. It wouldn't be the first time a homebrew 2600 game based on a copyrighted property has been commercially released...

if you're going to do a platform game, you should at least upgrade to 8-bit IMO, though this might not be needed and could work with the Atari look if it is more like Asteroids
a Megaman-type of platform game would be perfect though, Angels would take the place of Robot Masters

Nope. Sprites on the Atari 2600 can only have one color per line. The Bastard King wrote:If I may be so bold...
Reference material?
I'm basing this game on Yamashita's unused ending scenario, meaning that definitely will happen.universalperson wrote:You could have a seen at the end where we can all find out that Samus...er Eva-01 is a girl! :-D

ScenarioS, then... The "giant Yui" ending was written for the TV show, while the werewolves thing was for the movie.
