Why thank you, Master Lloyd. After my "Ritsuko as Egon" joke in the gender-bender thread fell flat, this is quite heartening.

EDIT: By the way, I'm planning on doing some prelim artwork for The Wall vs. Evangelion pretty soon. First up on my list are Shinji's two Angels, Gendo/Sachiel (the Schoolmaster) and Asuka/Shamshel (the Wife).

As promised last night, here's that preliminary artwork of the Sachiel-based "Gendo Monster" from The Wall vs. Evangelion.

Sadly, he's missing his Lance of Longinus right now (he uses it as the trademark "schoolmaster's cane") but I'm working on that.

Is she supposed to be older there? At least it looks rather un-Rei-ish. Not sure if it's the visible ear, the angular chin, the "lipstick"... or the blush...

Suppose Rei does look older there. To get Rei exactly right you have to draw her like Sadamoto does, but it's nice every now and then to draw the characters how you naturally would.

The two times we see Rei's ears in the show I thought were cute - all Rei does with her hair is sweep the bits that would otherwise get in her eyes out of the way, tucking it behind her ears - makes more sense than her hair being as it is in the anime. Along the same lines the flicky bits that brush her cheeks might be naturally like that, but I always wondered whether they were like that because she tugs on her hair there or chews/sucks on it.
