Checked out EM...It showed nothing but the thing seen if a website domain is up for sale...
WHAT HAPPENED????? EM was the first Eva fansite I ever used!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Storm where the @#$% are you????

Weird. I get their forum. And I see that there have been posts made several hours ago. I know this isn't cached because I've actually never been to their website before.

I see what happened. The evamade.net domain expired yesterday. The domain's nameservers were hosted by the registrar. It used to point to 216.86.156.70, but since its expiration, it's being re-pointed to 8.5.1.45 which is owned by "eNom, Incorporated", a domain name registrar/hosting service.

It usually takes 2 or 3 days for a DNS change to propagate throughout the internet, my DNS server must be getting a cached lookup (which is why it's telling me that an non-authoratative answer is "216.86.156.70". This IP is where evamade.net is being hosted at. In a day or so, if the domain isn't renewed, I'll end up getting the registrar's parked page.

TL;DR Site isn't down, it's still running just fine at 216.86.156.70, but the domain has expired and the registrar is letting anyone going to the site know.

So does this mean their domain is about to be renewed by their host, or does it mean it has expired and been snagged up by a domain squatter?

What happened, was that the renewal notice got snaffled by Storm's spam filter, and he forgot to renew it.

It's back up and renewed now. 9And has been since a few hours ago)

Evamade.com was the original name for the site, about a decade ago and hasn't been renewed. Evamade.org was the name up until about 2006(IIRC), when it switched to .net.

Would not be the first Eva website to fold. Sometimes it amazes me that Evageeks has lasted as long as it has, let alone that it still attracts a lot of regulars (I myself tend to drift between lurker and regular depending on whether or not I am in an Eva mood).

An online community is only as strong as its members and the dedication of its administrators. You can't have one without the other, and both are essential to make it succeed. We have both, thankfully, and hopefully also have the cash on hand to keep going for awhile. IMO this is the premiere Eva fan site.

Bump. The site seems to be down again; it redirects to a domain sale screen: "This Web page is parked FREE, courtesy of GoDaddy.com"

Is it gone for good, then? It worked a few weeks ago.
