Its a limited Edition (Web Exclusive Maybe?) so I assume it was to save on printing the box...
Also, mine has a Bandai-Asia Sticker on the back, showing that it was from the Asia shipment rather than the Japanese one. (It has the GAINAX Sticker though, so its official.) In fact, all of my Eva's have that on the box.
