And please don't use this word. It's wrong, insultingly elitist, and kills kittens.

In other news, this is supposedly a page from a manga called Tokyo Akazukin (which, according to Wikipedia, is guro loli-porn...). Anyone, uh, care to confirm this? Is it worth including in Tributes?

Project I.G. does a bunch of homages to other works, so it's most likely on purpose that they decided to do this. It seems they made a Gendo as the leader of Team Edge Raid in episode 6 of IGPX (Cat Vs. Dog).

A simple "Gendo pose" is not necessarily an Evangelion reference, but they are always amusing finds. That's why we've started this entirely non-serious page, separate from actual tributes and references:

Gotta catch them all!

TBK, that's a Gendo parody if I ever saw one! Great find!

Nice. I'm going to get a version without any watermarks, so don't upload the pic to the wiki before that.

A recent episode of ZSZS has apparently referenced the UBF, if I read some screen grabs in /a/ rightly.

This is from (Zoku) Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=ZLtFteop8A8

Watch after 7:00. It looked familiar at first, with the movements. And the voice sounded similar sometimes too. I didn't think it until she started with the German.

There are also... cross shaped explosions, among other things.

From a montage just posted on /a/, there seems to be a fairly blatant hommage to the AU bit from ep 26 in the latest episode of Gundam 00, with Tieria as Rei, toast scene and all.

UrsusArctos wrote:Eureka Seven has a ripoff of the exact same graph of Rei-Lilith's energy pattern, so it too suffers. And the LFO mechas look too much like Eva-00. Not to mention that Eureka, who is little more than a variation on Rei, pilots Nirvash Type-00.

Ick, bones!!!

Sorry for going fanboy on this one but
1. Eureka isn't supposed to be a rip-off of Rei, she is emotionalyy a blank slate. She doesn't get a real personality until later after much interaction with other people namely Renton.

2. She pilots the Type-0 because, until Renton shows up, she's the only one who can because of her biology [?Maybe species would work better]

3. The KLFs [mass produced military models] really looks like the Unit-00

I can't say anything for Raxpheon's defense, it really does look like a eva rip-off.
Once again, sorry.

Sounds a lot like Rei's connection with Shinji....

Ok, got me there. Though Eureka turns into something completely different from Rei, mentally and physically. I'll admit it is kinda similar.

Ugh, basis for Rei's character isn't original at all. Emotionless, blank and weird girl protagonist meets? And after that she slowly opens up yadda yadda yadda

Sorry, that's ancient anime cliche.

What makes Rei so unique and popular back in the day is

a) depth and skill on how she is handled in show
b) her iconic character design (which afterwards has been copied again and agan)
c) the fact she never becomes "humane" and "finds love" etc. (which is one of the main reasons why Evangelion manga is so fucked up) killing ugly cliche as it raises its head

But please, no more ignorant fanboyism like that. Eureka is as much ripoff of Eva as Eva is ripoff Gundam et all

Death to fanboyism. And ah...2001: A Space Odyssey. Now even a Ramiel-esque design popped up (Makes me wonder when Nick'll come back, I wonder if he could make a little something for me...)

2001 is one hell of a ride, and I can see just how much of a genius Kubrick was in his portrayal of it all. Even 40 years from the original creation, it's still amazing and incredibly detailed. And the monolith vocal leitmotif is haunting.

I think TMA-2 should have been an angel, or just have fallen out of the sky and crushed all of them.
