Medicom RAH Neo Eva Unit-01 Awakened Ver.
Also some news has popped up that Medicom is gonna have an WonderFest Event Limited exclusive of RAH Neo Eva Unit-01 'Awakened Ver' available. Price is gonna be 22,000 Yen, with 100 available at the event for sale; and another 260 to be made available on Medicom's WebShop called "Medicom’s Premium Club".
If they're making an RAH Neo Eva exclusive available this early, I hope they can show off a Eva-00' for this event. Though I won't be surprised if they leave it(and hopefully my Eva-03) until the Summer WonFes, where they usually have a bigger presence according to a relative.

SPOILER: Show

That is one sweet Eva... I imagine already the soul sucking prices it will reach on Ebay
I wonder why in the world did Revoltech never made EvaEvo 01 released...
I mean, they already did every other Eva (even Eva 04 and Mark 06 which weren't on the 2.0 mold)

That sucks to read, and for not much better news; is it looks like the regular RAH Neo Unit-01 got pushed back to February. Page for it on AmiAmi has it listed as 'Late February', kinda sucks since I passed up on a chance to get a extra RD Eva Unit-03 for cheap(3,200 Yen); just to have a nice money cushion for this...

Well if the Unit-01 release has indeed been pushed back to February, then maybe there's chance I can still end up getting one. Just need to get my act together AND find an available pre-order.
Arael: Lovin' the avatar, dude. The Mark.06 is all kinds of awesome. I really need to find the time to build that Bandai kit I got of it.

what are the best evangelion figures?
trying to build a collection, and just got my first one as a gift!!
wondering what types are the best, and what to stay away from, also within a not so crazy price.
anyone have any suggestions?

If they are pushing it back doesn't that mean that the received too many pre-orders and production cannot finish in time?
Wouldn't it be counterproductive to receive even more orders?
Thanks!

Don't know. Hobby Search cancelled my original order back in December due to them having a shortage of units. Apparently not as many were produced as intended/needed. I then found another retailer to order through but ended up having to cancel that one myself because of money issues this month.
But if it's been pushed back, maybe there's a chance more units will come as a result. That, and I can work on saving a little cash!

It depends on what you are looking for in a figure because everyone has different uses for theirs. Are you looking for character or Eva figures? Are you looking for a display piece to go up on a shelf, something that you want to pose, or something that you will keep in the box? Are you looking to specialise in a specific character, Eva unit, or line of figures? There are a lot of possibilities for figures out there so you have an excess of options to choose from, even going with those that won't break the bank.
Speaking for myself, my figures are somewhat all over the place and yes price was a factor - I don't have any RAHs right now because I find their pricing prohibitive at this time. Also with just 1 exception because I got it off eBay (cold cast Rei wearing only bandages), all my figures are still in the boxes or packaging because that's the kind of collector I am.

I would have to say a good amount of everything, most interested in the Eva's first, then the pilots.
Not to worried about out of the package or sealed, I like to display most of my figures side by side and the packaging gets in the way.
I like posable figures, I just don't even know where to buy, ebays price range is weird and I can't tell figs apart in their pictures,
So yeah, that's about it, the pilots will be more expensive figures as they are all static poses I'm willing to pay for the right figure and pose, but other than that are there any sites that sell them online?

I got into the character figures about five years ago, and I'd say if you can afford it stick with the Kotobukiya series. The detailing on those is amazingly good and they look quite cute on your shelf. They are, however, in fixed poses, which I actually prefer over the Fraulein or Revotech types.
I probably get about two good, large figures a year, plus whatever small capsule figures I can pick up on occasion. From experience I can say only that to avoid getting raped by collectors you really just have to shop around a lot, there's no one particularly good source. Several of my figures including my 12" SEGA Rei and Asuka were gifts, I bought others at cons or at Kinokuniya bookstore in LA.
Among my collection I have a lot of nice ones, my particular favorite at the moment is this one:
I admit I'm not much for the EVAs themselves, I have one large statue of EVA-06, given by one of my Japanese friends as a gift. That, and a small Revotech of EVA-04 because it's a collector's item.
If you're just starting out, I'd definitely suggest going small first. The capsule toys, particularly the Portraits series, are a great starting point as there's a lot of variety for both pilots and EVAs and it won't set you back much per figure.
