This might be a silly question, but to those that have the NEW second editions of the manga: does volume 2 seem smaller than the other NEW edtions are? I have 1,2,3,4 and 8 and 2 is definitely smaller than the others. I went to take the manga back, to see if I could get another one that was the correct size. The store had approximately 6 copies of volume 2 and ALL of them were smaller than the others. Anyone know the reason for this?

I was moving my manga collection into a new bookcase just last week, and I noticed the same thing.

I don't know why they did this.
It's no big deal anyway, It's just half a inch shorter or so.
I asked "And where would you take me?"
At this the beast laughed, tears made of my mother's blood leaked from his eyes.
"I will take you to every place you never wanted to be, and you will hate it."
"Then I will take you to every place you've already been, and you will hate that also."
"Last I will take you to the places you have always dreamed of, and that you'll hate worst of all."

Mine is about two centimeters shorter as well. Why? Don't ask me, I would assume that somehow the printing of the second volume got messed up, and they didn't catch it.

Weird...

I went out and bought the 1st special edition of volume 2 cuz it was on sale. I too, noticed the chibi size of the new vol 2.

Well, the best thing about Viz's new Eva releases is that all of the old ones are now cheaper! :D

So now I'm reaping deh rewards...

I've avoided picking that one up because it would disrupt the size order... (Yes, I'm that picky about it.)
We'll see whachu' got.

Lol I'm sorry! But I'm glad i'm not alone in that the abnormal size drives me crazy! It looks uneven on my bookshelf of manga! It drove me so nuts I took it back to Waldenbooks, and I won't buy it again until they fix it! I know I'm picky, but eva is my favorite manga!

I thought I would revive this thread because the question was never answered. I recall discussing this with Carl Horn over email, and he more or less stated that it wasn't a defect, but that sometimes a publisher gets a good bargain on slightly irregular sized paper, and Viz took it. True, companies should have high standards of quality, but when your buisness isn't easy to make a profit in, you have to take any deal you can. And lets be honest, two centimenters difference in height doesn't mean anything in the long run.

Somewhere, right now, some picky Eva fan is buying a copy of the new Volume 2, just so s/he can return the old version in its place.

I actually think the first looks a wee bit smaller.

I think they finally corrected the problem. I recently saw volume 2 in Borders and it was the correct size. Also does anyone know whether there is a difference between the ones that have the planet with action under it, at the top of the spine verses the ones that have the big V?
