Evangelion on TV in HD?

"To promote the Blu-Rays, they're airing new improved episodes 1, 9, and 24 on TV-Tokyo along with the Eva Animator Expo shorts sometime this week."

I can't find any source on this. Is it true?

It happens on the 18th. According to TMBounty_Hunter, they're using the standard definition episodes and not the HD versions.

There's quite a bit of Eva stuff going down the next two weeks. We have the BD/DVD release, obviously, this airing on the 18th, magazine features in Smart and Aera on the 24th, some kind of art exhibit at Parco on the 21st, and a collaboration with 109Men starting on the 17th that's supposed to feature a special banner!

Recording it now, starting now, will post anything cool about the Death preview, in case you didnt heard they are going to show a bit of the original Death and HD footage after the three episodes.

Edit: recorded, the Death footage was nothing too special, they showed a new Asuka scene, the image quality had enough grain in what was shown of Death, the tv series footage though, was a little underwhelming, the worse part its that it looked lioke they tried to remove most of the grain with DNR, I sort of ended up disapointed.

We just have to wait one more week, anyway.

New Asuka scene? Like, a scene that was only in over version of Death prior to this, or a completely yet-to-be-seen-by-anyone scene?

It was a short bit that maybe replaces the montage that shows in Death (True^2) with Black and white scenes featuring Asuka while Touji and Kensuke speak ill of her, this little thing they showed started with Asuka introducing herself in class and then cut to various scenes featuring Asuka with a red background, and I think Asuka is saying the lines the belonged to those scenes, then they showed the Rei smile scene and little bit from Kaworu´s attack, all this was from Death, judging from the graain those scenes shared and the rather dark lightning of the print in general compared to those almost uncomfortable bits from the tv series they showed.

This is a little worrying, because of the fact that this is the first time Death is being scanned, which would mean that there may be a possibility that EoE and Revival end up with high degress of difference in image quality since there are already masters which may be poorly made, who knows.

I want to be positive and expect the best since everyone has waited a long time for this set.

Im encoding the recording and ill try upping it somewhere tomorrow.


Aside from that, the night was nothing too special, they showed Until you come to me, then ep1, 8, and 24( all OA versions from Renewal), and then Evangelion: Another Impact (Confidenntial), and after that they shwed the BD box stuff to get people to preorder.
