And that's how Shinji finally solved the hedgehog's dilemma.

Description

Simon Lee (Spiderzero) Evangelion - Archangel. Finally got around to touching up this piece - one of the two unpublished pieces from my FIGHT FOR MANKIND 2014 series of fan art sculpts. I've been preparing for my upcoming classes, but must find time for stuff like this!

Hey guys; I got a revoltech figure of Rei, but there seems to be a problem:

One of the hairpieces, the one with the bandage specifically, does not fit her head properly when there is a face attached. When I do not have a face attached, it seems to work just fine, but any other time, it does not attach straight.

This is the figure for reference.

Here are pictures for reference:

This one was a bit blurry, but basically the left side of the piece fits fine.

Last time I had such a problem with a figure, it turned out the tabs used to keep the parts attached to each other didn't fit properly due to a mismold on the offending hair piece's tabs. Some correction work with an X-Acto knife solved the issue.

It could also be that the manufacturer screwed up and made one part too small... :|

I shaved a bit off the sides of the connector of the hairpiece, but no dice.

I looked into the holes of the head, and it seems the left-hand one is a little stretched. In addition to that, the peg doesn't seem to line up with it.

It is looking like the latter would be the case, and I won't be able to return it because I modified it.

If it's the latter, then it's likely all others have the same problem - especially if the peg simply doesn't line up with it (peg in the wrong place sounds like someone goofed up after prototype manufacturing when making the molds for the production figure...). A stretched hole usually isn't a problem, it just makes things wobbly.

You could try dipping the part (it's PVC, right?) into some hot (not cooking) water for a few seconds and then putting it into place. The heat will soften the part enough to make it pliable, and when it cools down again it will retain its new shape. A hair drier on a low setting may also work. However, I don't know how the paint will react to the heat...

If the part is not PVC, but styrene or ABS, do not try what I just wrote, it will ruin the part!

Since the part I got it in is in Japanese, I won't be able to check if it is PVC or not.

Nevertheless, considering how it is essentially useless unless I do as you suggest, I am better off trying that than anything else.

Well, is it flexible and does it kinda reek like chemicals when you sniff it?

(just don't feel awkard because you're sniffing Rei's hair... -o-; )

Doesn't smell, but it is slightly pliable.

Stryker I also have the Revoltech Rei, however the only face the hairpiece properly fits on is the bandaged eye face and not the other faces. Perhaps it was only intended for that face?

Dengeki Hobby has some gigantic photos of test injections of Kotobukiya's awakened Eva-13:
http://hobby.dengeki.com/news/65629/

EDIT:
Well the awakened Eva-13 is finally out, you can see the parts and manual scans up on Hobby Search:
http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10307353

And there's still no more new kits announced from Kotobukiya after this one :(
But then again, they will be attending some hobby show on June 6th, hoping we'll finally get Eva-08a then...

EDIT 2:

Summer Wonderfest is really pushing Eva. Hopefully this will result in a billion and a half awesome new figures.

I received a shipping notice for the long-awaited Medicom EVA 13 a little while ago, so it should be landing in the next week or so. I imagine that there might already be some floating around HK.

I received mine today. I was surprised to see she's the same size as the other evas. Isn't Eva 13 supposed to be much bigger?
