hard back and set for a 10th October release.

all of those years searching for one of these beauties - for under £100 - and finally a second chance to get my grubby grip around that strangely butch looking Rei cover.

well......i think that says it all.

Carl Horn told me about this a number of months back, I'm glad to see this finally solidified.

the big money ones are because of rare book sellers cashing in, 3 years ago it wasn't so hard to get a hold of. in fact very easy.

Well, for our American friends, it looks like it will retail for $25, and is available for pre-order at only about $16. Quite a bargain compared to what some people have been paying. I wouldn't say that any edition of the book would be worth any more than $50.

If you've ever thought about picking this book up, now would be the time. Perhaps if it does well enough, you might see Viz bring over his previous collection, Alpha, which I think is a better collection.

Now how does this comapre with Die Sterne, which was essentially just a big book of clip art?

Whereas Der Mond is acollection of Sadamoto's art featuring Evangelion, Alpha is a collection of his work from earlier, mostly featuring Nadia.

Die Sterne is Evangelion art only, by many artists, not just Sadamoto. Der Mond has fewer illustrations, but larger and more detailed. But not entirely Evangelion, it includes other illustrations he's done.

I would say that Alpha, Der Mond, and Die Sterne are all quite good books. If you like Eva, go with Die Sterne. If you like Eva and Sadamoto, go with Der Mond. If you really like Sadamoto, give Alpha a go.
