Eva TV going OOP, per RightStuf...

No details about when precisely it is going OOP, but since RightStuf is pretty much the largest and most reputable anime retailer in the US, I'd take their word at it happening in the very near term.

If you're on the fence about buying a set, now is the time; especially since they're selling the Platinum "thinpak" set for $29.99 + shipping currently...

I'll never know what goes in that pundit's head (he's one of the writers of the remaining anime magazine to exist in America), but move along, he's just trolling like Rudy.

It's going out of print?! Does this also count for the Holiday Edition? The article says that the TV series as a whole is going out of print, so I'd assume so, but I'm not sure. Does this also mean that FUNi is FINALLY trying to acquire the TV series rights so they can release it on Blu-ray, or is that wishful thinking on my part?

So can I expect someone to surprise license-rescue it and put out Blu-Rays after I buy like half a dozen of these for posterity?

There's still the holiday bundle, which has all the extras, while this one doesnt and neither of the two have a counter. There's also the tendency for stuff that's on sale for xmas at TRSI to be bargain binned a few months later. As for the price, it might be good or it might be bad, since ADV/Sentai has a ton of stock and I've seen stuff pricedrop twice.

As for Funi getting the show, who knows, Japan might want to push Rebuild, and I'm not even sure Evangelion was even remastered in HD.

To the other guy: ColonyDrop guys are fun, I hang in their IRC channel, you shouldn't overreact, stop being a pussy, it's not like you worked on the fucking show and it's your life's greatest achievement.

Be careful what you wish for. Funi loves to cram 6-7 episodes on a DVD for its re-releases. However, I would enjoy a R1 release of the Renewal version of the movies...

I just hope this speeds up a new North American release of End of Evangelion.

as long as everything is packaged together 26 episodes+EOE+death and rebirth, then everything is alright.

That'd be great. Especially if the Renewal Feature Films would get the blu-ray/HD treatment ala NME. Still, I'm happy with my R2 DVD and fansub rips until that happens.

And it would be nice if for consistency's sake that Funimation would acquire all the rights to Renewal (NGE series, DEATH, EoE), but their packaging of series can be a pain like previously mentioned. I wouldn't mind a box set release. Like that 2007 Japanese release, but probably not as fancy.

vito: I'm with Soul on this. "Rebuild"/NME and NGE are two complete different continuities and formats. One being licensed doesn't have an effect on the other. Saying that someone is "being a pussy" is just a pointless and uncalled for insult.

Not only is this uncalled for, but it's tantamount to saying to not care. We care and are passionate about Evangelion here, that's kind of the point. So if this is the attitude you're going to have, you don't belong here.
