That second episode was both cute and depressing. It was entertaining to watch. I liked the more focused plot and a change in animation. All of their eyes were tiny. I liked it, step out of the norm.

It is a bit of a stretch, but there's also Panty's shirt of Katz, a side character from Courage, in one scene, as well as a ton of character background cameos (mostly Gurren Lagann and FLCL characters, but a few from other anime and American cartoons) here and there. They're all a bit stylized and many of them are kind of hard to interpret, but the sheer quantity of them makes it a bit harder to question whether or not they were intended to resemble what they seem to :)

JESUS CHRIST DEM GAINAX SAKUGA EVERYWHERE NOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOM

This single ep is the most eyecandy thing to come out of tv anime this whole YEAR. If Yoshinari didn't animate those enormous explosions, fire etc. in the end I'm surprised. Looks just like him. And the car shit by Sushio oh man oh man oh man OH MAN. Really, GAINAX propably has the most talented animator pool in the industry alongside Ghibli (and maybe Production IG)...just FUCKING INSANE

And as if this wasn't enough ep also settled once and for all the question of which show has the best soundtrack this season. DAMN

I think the reason some parts felt cheaper than usual is because the rest looked so fantastic; it was either "regular Panty & Stocking" or fucking batshit Sushio/Yoshinari/Yasunori Miyazawa stuff

Sushio is ridiculously good at cell shaded 3D CG

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! Holy shit that was awesome, I honestly can't decide whther 6 or five is better, I liked both for different reasons, but holy shit awesomepants!

This possibly had a more badass fight then Galactica vs Pandy in dead leaves which I didn't think was possible. Even had Stocking doing Black claws sword tornado move from re cutie honey, shit I just might watch this one again later tonight. Also really liked the demon transformation sequences.

Also damn, poor Breifs, he's certainly beginning to work his way up to the upper tier of pitiable gainax characters. He hasn't reached the top yet, some of the eva characters and possibly Ebichu are still above him. But I mean damn I really felt sorry for him at the end of that episode.

Seems the two sides in this are chaotic good and ordered evil?

Yeah for me this is definitely the best series of the year!
