To be fair, we probably can't expect Spike to know what actually happened. It's not like he or Tiffany - y'know - actually... watched the episodes before recording or anything crazy like that

Unlike Tiffany Grant and Matt Greenfield who thought really weird stuff about the plot (see the commentaries on the DVD) I think Spike and a few other cast members really understood the plot more than they did. Let's not get into it though.

like it or not it's true: have you ever read Grant's nutjob rants on Shinji not to mention hundreds of times dub cast brings up in their commentaries etc. they did not get the show at all

I don't know why people always go on about how much they hate Shinji? It's probably because they watch too much Bleach or Naruto or One Piece and expect all shonen heroes to be like Luffy, Naruto or Ichigo. :um-no:
