He was also right about Shinji's having changed since he reached Tokyo-3. He seems pretty good at reading people.

He shuddered a bit, remembering the somewhat creepy level of detail Kaji had gone into, while rubbing a watermelon in a disturbingly sexual way.

Unfortunately, I'm such an otaku that you said "Ritsuko and Hikari" but I heard "Ritsuko x Hikari."

FUND IT!

Suprisingly, this is a pairing I've seen neither fic nor art for.

probably has something to do with the fact that they never even meet in the series.

That would be at the rather joyless event that was Misato's promotion party, IIRC.

They met earlier, and even talked. Remember her synching Shinji and Asuka together?

Is this a manga thing? Ritsuko wasn't at the apartment when everyone came over in the anime.

Of course, I don't know if there's any reason to bring Hikari and Ritsuko together, beyond simple aesthetics. But an E-Z-Write premise is supplied by the presumption that Ritsuko must have a dossier on everyone in Shinji's class, as a potential pilot candidate. In the vast and limitless Instrumentality that is Eva fanfic and doujinshi, it's surprising this scenario hasn't happened at least once.

The fact everyone in the show meets an apocalyptic destiny makes me sometimes forget how casual and workaday the original series could be. I flipped to watch that scene again where Maya "Niggaz be shootin' the giff like they for real, but when it jumps, they ain't got no murder skillz" Ibuki and Shigeru Aoba, off-duty and loaded down with their shopping, are cheerfully riding the same commuter train with deep-dark-secret-keeping-types like Ritsuko and Fuyutsuki.

Oops, my mistake! -o-; I thought he was talking about when Hikari met Misato. Tines remembers right, Hikari and Ritsuko are first seen together in Misato's promotion party. (They don't exchange any dialogue and they're not shown together afterwards)

pornographic fanart is essential to the understanding and watching of the TV series "Neon Genesis Evangelion"?

I too, Carl, enjoy the "what's a normal day like for these people?" stuff

i.e....while I do consider "Girlfriend of Steel" etc. to be non-canon and I hate Mana as bad writing, it's more or less what I consider "good fanfic" to be: something that could have plausibly happened on the show as a "lost episode" in the spaces in the "Monster of the Week" Action Arc when time skips forwards a lot

And furthermore, it always deeply disturbs me and I point this out on many occassions, that say, Ritsuko is casually coming over to Misato and Shinji's place to eat dinner (i.e. episode 5).....and offscreen, is having sex with his father at the same time.

No, but it's fairly difficult to miss if you have any sort of immersion in the fandom.

Yeah, she should be joining Shinji's harem too!

But seriously, we know these are all somewhat damaged people; that Ritsuko deals with it by separating her life into tidy little compartments isn't that surprising a coping strategy.
