its just weird that those 2 Angels have those kind of eyes and the rest dont.
im not even sure they use them properly because u c Matariel oozing acid out of 1 of its Eyes

You forgot Adam, Lilith, Kaworu, the Evas, and the Lilim. An arguement could be made for Sachiel, Gaghiel, Israfel, Sandalphon, and Zeruel even if they are just black dots.

I always viewed those giant eyes to be more like the 'eyes' many butterflies and moths have on their wings.

the eys on matariel are where the acid comes out so theyer at least real...and not decorations in the aspect that they are an opening...weither or not that can see is unkown...

...and Sahaquiel just looks like a five year old drew it...?????

it wouldnt b that suspicious if only 1 of the 18 Angels had that kind of eye, but the fact that there was 2 of them.
maybe there its a direct relation to their Cores
it doesnt seem to show their Cores at all, so maybe, their behind the eyes????

Sahaquiel was huge so it's core didn't stand out, but it was there since Asuka stabbed it there to kill it.

I disagree. It's an obvious visual cue, although less obvious with Sahaquiel. Why stick a symbol on an angel that we've seen before, in the real world?

Shamshel's "eyes" are definitely fake eyespots. I think the design notes said something about that.

Shamshel didnt have any eyes, but the core in that 1 spot made it kinda look like an eye, but it really wasnt

and back to Sahaquiel, its almost for certain that the pupil in the fake eye was the core.

as for Matariel, it mightve been much stonger. but the Core, once again was probably in the pupil of the eye on the bottom.
perhaps the Angels use up power when they activate their AT field, and since Matariel saw no threat, it released its AT field, but paid the price for doing so

or, it had to release its At field to pour out the acid stuff

since we all kno (or should no, at least) that SEELE is responsible for a mojority of the Angel attacks (if not all), maybe they planted the fake eyes on the Angels hoping that it would hide the Core. but when the plan failed, twice, they stopped doing so. If they Evas couldnt locate the Core, then they couldnt b destroyed (unless unit 01 got hungry again 8)).
