As far as I know, most human languages do conjugate for tense or indicate it in one form or another, although the number of tenses varies a lot between languages. English has twelve, which is actually more than most other languages do.

IIRC, "I need you" would be "hitsuyoh'n da" in Gendo's speech patterns, and "I needed you" would be "hitsuyoh datta".
