NERV should be in New York.

Postby InvaderRen » Fri Jul 21, 2006 9:23 pm

New York City. I know im going to get flamed out of the boards, but i live in the City, and i take the ferry, and it occured to me...

The Geofront could be in New York Harbor.

An even better idea that occured to me before this one is that

Second Impact could occur in New York City Harbor. No really, i was think about this on the Ferry (incidentally also in NY Harbor)

My thoughts:

January 30, 2000 A.D

Anouncer: Due to activity in the harbor, you travel length will be longer, we apologize for the inconvinence.

(Lowering shot of the Ferry terminal, Staten Island side)

Door opens, people board the the ferry

Little Girl: Mommy, what that?

Mother: Keep walking...

*They sit*

Mother: Something the city is doing, a tunnel from here to the city. Now go eat your breakfast

*Cut to the head of the ship, w/ camera panning to the left, where scaffolding is set up*

Nuclear Bomb Warning Bell Rings, Audile thru city

Mother: What the hell-

White light shockwave

*Heavy breathing*

Being of Light rises from scaffolding.

(Cut to the view the city, from the Atlantic, past the Verazzano)

*Famous Wail of Adam as the wings unfold*

Cut to world view, imitation of 2I damage from Series

CNN: The President returns to Utah from his foreign vists. Vows Iran and N.Korea will pay for the attack on American soil

You know, if English isn't your first language, that would explain a lot.

 at the whole idea.

And if 2nd impact happened in NY ther wouldn't be a NY to have the rest of the movie in.

If you want to include NY in the movie so bad just show it being washed away by the flood of water that results from 2nd impact melting the ice caps.

A while ago a friend was trying to convince me that the whole series could be re-set in Australia. Something to do with it being the oldest continent, or something.

People seem to be attracted to the idea of setting the series in their home.

Guys, play nice.

I think New York would be one of the most fitting places to place Nerv within the US. But I would think it would be better to remain within the original story as much as possible, by making either the Massachusetts or Nevada branch the primary focus.

And second impact should still happen in Antarctica.

Knowing red-stater reaction to a UN special purpose organization operating from hallowed ground, perhaps not. And why am I getting these NXE flash-backs?

Yeah, if the Second Impact should take place in New York you probably won't see it as the Tokyo 3 you thought it would be in 2015, but rather the South Pole with red water and green sky.

And it is totally impossible for the government to do such a dangerous experiment in a city so important to the country itself. Maybe it should take place in Area 51?

what is it with america and its take on big things doing lots of damage and setting it in new york?

i seen it so many times i could draw a friggin blue print of the city.

it needs to be set in a part of the world that people don't detest or are overfamiliur with, i think we can all agree Japan is a very unlikely choice for whatever tokyo - 3 is gonna be called. america does still seem a good place for the film, but not such a cliched city.

I agree. New York is overused. There are other cities in the world.

Setting it in New York would be a cop-out. However, I wouldn't really care if they just called it "New City" like in the production art, even though I'd prefer if they just set it in Tokyo 3 like the Anime and Manga, and simply showed the city as being a melting pot of both eastern and western cultures, which would be why there are caucasian and asian people intermingling, as well as English and Japanese being used interchangeably. Obviously, modern-day Tokyo is not like that, but a global disaster like Third Impact is bound to switch things up a lot.

it's an americanisation of the series (by the looks of things) and setting it in the west makes the films more accesible to the wider audience, rather than being set in Japan where they will have to come up with some sort of plot like the one posted above. it woiuld be nice to see Japan remaining the centre of atention, but i think it's unlikely.

Excuse me, but if they call it Tokyo-3, wouldn't it only be logical to place it in....Japan?

Well, this is gonna be really weird if they have american names and american actors and it's in new york with a geodome.

So basicly, they're going to kill all the Japanese culture in this?

what hes saying is that the LAM should be FILMED there......i guess new york or los angelis, or maybe Tokyo, could work

Seattle could work pretty well too...(my hometown...thatd make me happy if they filmed it here)
