^I think that's the case. I read an article today stating that Amazon (which is where I preordered from) is prioritizing household and medical products until April 5th. And a few hours ago, I got another e-mail from them reinstating the April 10th arrival date. I think it was some sort of automatic e-mail thing.

They updated on Twitter as promised (since they initially posted about this on Wednesday) that the April 10th release is still good to go, and they're working with retailers (Amazon, Gamestop, etc, etc) to ensure such, considering virus concerns:

Also, for any collectors out there, it seems like they're redoing the Barret and Cloud Remake version Play Arts Kai, with Remake! Tifa and Aerith coming out this year, too: https://thelifestream.net/forums/thread ... ost-842912 I already have my original game Play Arts of Tifa with Crisis Core Cloud (hoping to get original game Aerith sometime) though their Remake versions are tempting.....

So apparently, some stores have the broken street-release dates and fans are already getting their copy of the game. (I'm a little shocked. A week ahead of time, sure, it happens with various games. But 2-3 weeks early? Without myself getting spoiled, looks like it's 100% legitimately already happening.)

Stay safe out there, y'all, since the trailers alone make it sound that Remake has a lot new (expanded?) content in it

Actually, Square's released the game (physical copies) for Europe and other areas early, I have no idea if anybody in the States has been getting their copies already since I've been intentionally Internet-blind:

Goddamit! Some people in Mexico City already have it!
There's exactly one video game store in my city and it's closed now!

If everything goes as bad as expected here in Mexico, I'll have to engage in Turk-like behavior to get my copy :emogendo:

I'm getting paid tomorrow and I'm still on the fence about getting the game. On one hand, I'm a sucker for steelbooks, I still am a Final Fantasy fan through and through, and anything with Aeris in it should automatically be good. On the other hand, Midgar in the original was so fucking AWFUL; I could barely stomach the game when I first started and I would've dropped VII completely if the game hadn't let me leave Midgar when I did.

In other news, I did Trial Mode in FFXII TZA today since I got all my characters to 99. FUCK YIAZMAT, I beat him in the main game no problem but in Trial Mode he decides to just spam Death Strike until my party can't keep up with the raising.

Any classic JRPG starts you out in some city or town that you eventually leave for the big wide world, so VII isn't any different in that regard, but I'm curious: What about Midgar did you hate in the original? Maybe it's just my '97 fan-sensibilities talking, but I was mindblown by the scope of the city and how the player was thrust into "blowing shit up" at the very start of the game.

(About Aerith, I'm especially interested to see if Remake will give us more insight into her Ancient abilities...(and hopefully tweak the Crisis Core elements) regarding her and Zack  )

@ SEELE-01: It feels like everybody in Europe and Australia already has the game (I believe people are streaming on Twitch which is getting taken down since Square wants people to wait for April 10th) while Japan / the U.S. are left out in the dust, so I know that feel :sweatdrop:

What I'm finding funny is there are some people complaining on Reddit that the remake is more anime influenced.... The original FF7 is the most 90's anime thing ever in terms of design, writing, Kanji all over the place etc, It was massive influence in getting me into anime in the first place!

Seeing as every single FF is basically an anime story in itself, not sure what people expect out of Square at this point? Shave Clouds head and make it WRPG where you run around a field for 100 hours breaking your weapon every five minutes?

People love complaining, and when something they projected on for years gets a new makeover, it's a perfect excuse to unleash all kinds of shitstorms on it for daring to mess with their nostalgia

A lot of gamers like pretending their favourite games are "Western". Funniest shit is when people claim Mario or Zelda aren't anime.
And yeah FFVII was completely anime, I don't know what these people played.

VII even had 2 literal OVAs after Advent Children (FFVII: Last Order (which story-wise was replaced by Crisis Core on PSP) and On the Way to a Smile: Episode Denzel) so where have these people been?

My assumption that this group of gamers moved on to games like Elder scrolls, the witcher, mass effect or what have you and just assumed that either FF7 was somehow far removed from the anime style of subsequent FF games, or decided that square would drastically alter the game to fit their current tastes.... But also somehow cater to the nostalgia of the original. (:|

Either way, looks like most of the reception is positive outside of gamefaqs lol. Just 8 more days to go now.

It was mostly the atmosphere and setting, to me IMO it sticks out from everything else in the game but it's that coupled with everything else at the start of an RPG where you're kind of locked up and it slowly opens up more.

In regards to the VIIR being more "anime-y" they might be referring to the way Cloud seems to be portrayed (as he is in the later VII works) in comparison to how he was in the original release. There's a infamous image you can easily find on the internet by searching "Cloud then Cloud now" comparing Cloud from VII to AC Cloud.

Ian: Check this out regarding the differences between AC Cloud* (who was grieving and dealing with a terminal illness) and cold Midgar-arc Cloud mixed with his bits of the dorky "real Cloud" from late Disc 2. The Staff like Nojima are hyper-aware of Cloud's personality at different times, at least: https://square-enix-games.com/en_US/new ... developers

*Also, you can thank KH for "emo Cloud" who was originally going to be Vincent (just like Aerith was going to be Aya from PE).

Also: Tread carefully, everyone: the final trailer is out and it's apparently spoiler-filled mess.

Tread extra carefully: I've already seen most of the ending on YouTube. Seems SE is going after those videos.

Oh I'm spoiled, there was no way I could hold out with the game in the wild, but I've only looked at screenshots, no streams or anything.

Reaction spoiler
SPOILER: Show
I personally love that their making this game it's own thing and not a 100% retelling. The ending is really interesting, can't wait to see where they go with it. Naturally though, like 3.0, a large portion of the fanbase is going to react negativily and boy is it becoming a shit show out there lol, I'm staying out of it.

Lol checked Reddit once last time and now only negative comments are being upvoted. I'm so done with this whole social media thing, glad to have this test run so I know not to engage when 3.0+1.0 I don't have the energy to deal with this much negativity over media. My god the world is dieing right now, direct this negative energy to the powers that let this happen, not some Japanese directors who made an ending you didn't like

Not me... I have no idea wtf is going not though. We are in a precarious position, cuz' April 10th is a holiday here, so people in Germany/Austria wouldn't have got the game until the following Tuesday (14th of April because of Easter) so they were considering sending out the games earlier - which they did, I guess. I got my shipping confirmation on Thursday the 26th. Now; I have no idea whatsoever where this game will be shipped from and how many borders it has to cross - which will slow down the shipment considerably since borders are effectively closed in EU (except for goods and even then, essential stuff* is prioritized, so it might take a while if it comes from the UK).

yeah, FFVIIR is not considered essential, get your priorities straight, smh

Well, you've answered it yourself... Reddit. It's easily the community with the worst opinions I know of out there, they really shouldn't be taken seriously. FFVII is easily the most anime looking game in the series, and if anything the remake tones that aspect down.
