It's a tough call, and I'm sure TriLink could explain it better than I could about the Wii's capabilities, but I eventually went with the 360. Elite.

Hmm, I might end up getting the 360, but still not sure... Thanks btw ;)

They need to make a good Evangelion Game for Counsel systems; something similar to Mechwarrior or something of that nature.

Evangelion MMO anyone? Probably not. Just a thought ;)

You can get a xbox360 but be warned at lot of them have broken down after a year. Up to you really.

By the way before anyone hits on the PS2, mine lasted 6 years without problems.
I have too much anime, yet it's not enough. Anime Addict, if it were a drug; I'd be dead.

my original NES and gamboy work just fine.
God, Apparently you all have been discussing Q since November. Catching up on the discussion is harrowing.

I had thoughts about the Ps3 but the price doesn't catch me.

Honestly I don't see why people are that turned off by $200, I mean, you'd spend that much on four games anyway.

Like I said, they might just discontinue 20gig PS3's and make all 60gigs and drop them to $400, pray dude.

Because the games coming out Q4 RAPE.

Isnt the only reason why the PS3 is so expensive is because of the Blu-ray player?

Apparently, it's also the most expensive system out there to produce, the Blu-Ray probably takes up a huge chunk of that, but I'm not a tech junkie.

All I know is that when developers quit bitching about the cell processor, games will look like friggin' CG all the time. If anyone remembers the whole Dreamcast/PS2 bit, developers all loved the Dreamcast because it was easy to develop on, and the PS2 really hard. Look which system thrived.

Main guy bitchin' about it is the Final Fantasy guy though, and you can't milk a franchise forever, so he better find a new cash cow.

I'd really contend that the only reason that PS2 did so well against the Dreamcast was
A): The PS2 having an intergrated DVD played.

B): It was the obvious sucessor to the legendary PlayStation (Which I still own and enjoy to this day.)

C) The Saga Saturn, despite having quite a few really quality games, for the most part performed badly because it was a cast-iron bitch to proogram with, hence wwhy the Dreamcast did was so easy to work with. Sega learned their hard-earned lessons. Also, the Saturn was more Expensive, at $400 smackers when it came out, vs the PlayStation being $300. Lastly, the Saturn simpley did not have enough great games for it to compeate with both the PlayStation and N64. (Granted, Panzer Dragoon Saga was onew of the best RPGs ever, but good fucking luck trying to get it under 300 dollers now.)

A.) Doubt people bought it just for the DVD player, it is a nice commodity, but the PS2 DVD player is.. Pretty hard to work with.

B.) Agreed.

C.) Agreed.

But another point that was slammed by developers was the ease to program and I'd like to hammer that little point home.

Yeah, but at the time (2000), it was the only one on a game console. Most DVD players at that time were hellishly expensive, and the PS2 apparently was much cheaper than a standard one.

Agreed on the fact it was hard to navigate with.

I still really do think that SEGA would still be major console developer if the Saturn had turned out much better, but it just really did not pan out. Besides, IIRC, the Dreamcast was I think, about the same price as the PS2. How PS2 still did so well, despite not having really all that many great games at launch, still out-did Sega, what with games like Resident Evil: Code Veronica, Soul Calibur, and Virtua fighter. Hell, the Dreamcast version of DOA2 was better than the PS2 version. (The PS2 version, which has the subtitle of hardcore, had hellish glare, compared to the Dreamcast version.)

(And, for the record, I dont own a Dreamcast, but my friend has one, and we had a great time playing Soul Calibur on that. Nightmare FTW.)

Because to most normal people (me), $200 is a ton of money. When you consider that most gamers are men in the 15-30 range, their obviously not going to be pulling in the big bucks quite yet. And it's not like your getting a heck of a whole lot more for your money compared to a 360. Most people would rather wait until Blu Ray or HD-DVD players come down in price, rather then be forced to buy one if they want a PS3.

True, but at least there is reason to buy one now, and that would be good games. But it is still not replacing my Y-Box ;-)

LOL THE GUY ABOVE ME IS BANNED

Anyway, have I mentioned how Starcraft 2 is gonna be horrible because they're unlikely to innovate on the 10 year old engine, also it looks like a Warcraft 3 mod

Don't fix what's not broken. Seriously, tons of people still play the first Starcraft, and if they change the gameplay to much it will die out. I'm curious if it will feel like a new game or like the original.

Oh but nowadays the original SC engine *IS* broken, its outdated as hell, just because people play it doesn't mean it shouldn't be fixed.

Squad based combat is how RTS's should work anyway.

Expanding on this, Starcraft is an excellent game for its time, deal is, that time was TEN YEARS AGO, I'm not going to pay full price for the same game but in 3D

You would be surprised how many people do pay full price for basically the same game. Look at all the Football, Basketball, Baseball and Hockey games coming out pretty much every year, they're all really the same but with a few more 'features'. Yet people still buy these games for $59.99.

Starcraft right now feels like it's fan service, but we will find out if that is all it is when it hits store shelves.

I was thinking something more along the lines of Rockem' Sockem' Eva.

There's no real point to it, you just mash buttons and hope you win (about 50% of the time), but its still a Evangelion game, and the fans would snap it up.

If I can get a handle on programming, I was planning to make this a game myself...
