I actually got my little brother (he was 5 at the time, 6 now) to watch NGE ep. 8 - 24 in one sitting - I have no idea how he could endure it when he's mostly energic and jumps arround a lot...

It was in Japanese, and he can't read the subtitles and he doesn't know english... He whined a lot when there was no fighting (The first Rei episodes) but he enjoyed the Evangelion fights... I think I'm going to show it to him again in the future, he seem to like the children anime that they show on TV so if I introduce him slow and nicely as soon he learn how to read and some english...

I showed EoE to some of my friends. The most they got out of it was Winn Lee’s “Maya got fingered by Rei” joke.

I like to think that Evangelion, along with the internet, helped expand my mind from a young age.
The purpose of writing is to inflate weak ideas, obscure poor reasoning, and inhibit clarity. With a little practice, writing can be an intimidating and impenetrable fog!

I only ever showed Eva to one person, my avatar. She thought it was stupid at first, but now she wants to get into it.
"I say Evamonkey did it himself. I guess that's true. I started watching it when I was 11 or 12, I think.

Shnooks and I went to our friend Jolie's house, and her brother is like..10, but he says some pretty weird things for a 10-year-old. So we showed them EoE. And he was making weird 10-year-old sex jokes throughout the entire movie.

And I died a little inside. XD

Yah,Yah. he kept saying, "Why are all the faggots dying first?" and repeated comments about GNR and nakkie Rei in general.

That kid is the cutest thing.

I showed the first few eps of Eva and EoE to my mother.

She kindly said that we, the Eva Fans, should get out of our houses and stop letting a crazy old Japanese man(Anno) screw with our heads.

I lul'd.

I wouldn't dare show EoE to my mother.

She'd accuse me of watching porn.

..and that's bad, considering I'm underage. :o

I wouldn't show it to my mom because

1.Shes a social worker and analyzes everything. Just what we need - Shinji with a profesionally diagnosed mental disorder.
2. She would finally have assurance that her daughter is a perv.
3. My mom thinks Evangelion is a Nazi show because Japan and Germany are together in it ( She also says I, too, should be offended, concidering Germans killed half the jews. >_>)

Me: Didn't you identify with any of the character's issues?

Mom: YOU'RE gonna have issues if you keep looking at that crazy Japanese stuff. Anno was obviously smoking something when he wrote that.

Ohhh snap. Now I have another reason as to why you should smoke weed. :P

I wouldn't show it to my parents either. In fact, NGE - and EoE in particular - is in the category of things I list as "unsuitable for parents"; turn and about for the more usual "unsuitable for children" tag.

I would never show Evangelion to my parents for two reasons:

1. My family is Korean, and my parents aren't that cool with Japan since they took over Korea and stuff when it was militaristic and stuff. So I bet they would bar me from anything Japanese. Hence the reason I don't take Japanese at school. Yeah... :|

2. They would probably think I was some sort of weirdo/pervert. With the nudity and stuff, they would probably think I was a pervert. And since they hardly speak English, they would probably interpret the series as something with big robots that attack and eat other things, thus seeing me as wierd.

I can't wait till I move out. I can finally watch anime whenever I want, instead of waiting untill my parents go to work. :|

I'd like to get my mom to see it, but she, like a lot of people, probably woudn't be able to tolerate the goofy cartoon area in the middle. Even I only sat through it based on the spoiler knowledge I had that it got better.

_you can't do anything, so don't even try
_get some help
_don't do what sonic does

The first time I watched the series, I was 8 years old and I watched it at a South American channel called Locomotion. It had a Portuguese (but with a brazilian accent) dub and no subs. I watched from 01 to 24, and at the end I was somewhat scared. I thought it was just a regular end at the time.

And I think I would never show it to my parents because I´m afraid to know their reaction.
What?

It's really fun to spring Eva on friends who know little to nothing about Anime, Foreign Cinema, or art films period. People who think Scarface or even XXX is the single greatest film of all time.

(not knocking scarface, great film, but come on, greatest?)

They rarely understand everything that's going on, but it's great to see their reaction, plus, they always want to see what happens next.

By End of Eva, they want to see more of that "Japanese Stuff" you got way too much of.
I asked "And where would you take me?"
At this the beast laughed, tears made of my mother's blood leaked from his eyes.
"I will take you to every place you never wanted to be, and you will hate it."
"Then I will take you to every place you've already been, and you will hate that also."
"Last I will take you to the places you have always dreamed of, and that you'll hate worst of all."
