Would you name your child(ren) after a EVA character?

This is the place to start: Feel free to introduce yourself, have general conversations and casual discussions about all things Evangelion, including chit-chatty topics like "Sachiel is adorable" or "Which Eva kicks the most ass?"

No, never. I would mix my child and the character up (lol).
Also, I don't think, it's a good idea to give someone non-japanese a Japanese name.
Altough Mari(e) might be considerable, because it exists here in that form as a name.

Maybe. It would make mean name-rhyming difficult.

I'll give you Shinji, but I think ASSuka and "Rei is gay" might have problems.

Well before reading all the comments in this thread I probably would have said "Yes" just because I really do like the names of most of the characters in the series.

But then I started thinking about it and I changed my mind. Most people are saying they won't do it because they are NOT that much of a fanboy, but for me I have the opposite problem. I like the characters of Evangelion too much to disgrace them by giving my children (who may grow up to be terrible people, who knows) the same name.

I did name my computer MAGI though, and then bought 3 external hard drives and gave each of them the names of the 3 computers in the system. So naming objects and possibly pets is something I will do, but not kids. x.x

They still aren't around but they're already trusted less than animals and objects. It's really hard to be human, at times I'd like to be a pet.

Overall, the characters in NGE are terrible people. :hahaha:

Yeah pretty much. At least my tv doesn't have any inclination to kill me, and my dogs don't want to run up my cell phone bill. Or at least I hope not... xD

Well sort of, I suppose. But I sort of like the personalities of Rei and Asuka, and I wouldn't mind if they were my children. Same with the rest of the cast.

Except Shinji. He is just flat-out annoying to me and I wouldn't be able to stand him.

No wonder Gendo sent him away. >.<

I'm with Reichu on this one. I mean, naming kid Shinji or Asuka due to Eva feels like parents wanting them to turn out as traumatized, ugly messes

pre-trauma Shinji wasn't annoying but moe as hell

I mean seriously, he was such adorable kid

In a way it makes me wonder what Shinji would have grown into if he stayed that way.

I think in an alternative timeline, where non of the Eva stuff happens, Shinji turns out to be Yui from K-on!.

^ Can't see the link between Shinji and K-On's Yui.

@symbv: I was referring to the über-cute Shinji-pic in Dream's post.

He posted a link to the wiki entry of Raoul de Chagny. Did I miss something?

That was from Xard's post, no?
The smiling bears a little resemblance to Yui in K-On, but she would be far from the first character who came to my mind though...

@symbv: Ok, you're right. How could I possibly overlook the right poster three times? I'm sorry for that.
Well, to me it has this Yui-vibe, which I can't explain...

I would't really name any of my kids after any of the Eva characters, but I do have two friends named Rei ; a boy and a girl. It's just weird to have a Japanese name if you aren't Japanese in my opinion. But if I were Japanese, then what the hell right haha as long as my wife would be up to it.
