How has the NGE opening impacted you?
Now I'm sure a lot of us will say, that NGE has changed our lives, due to its thought probing content and etc... But who hear has been affected in anyway, by the OP and the music itself?
Did you like the song? The animation? Whatever.
Personally, I was watching a parody video, a super smash bros melee version of the NGE OP. But, in the description of the video, it said please watch the original video first, so needless to say; I did.
It... Rocked... My... WORLD.
After the intro and the synth trumpets came on, it burned an eternal memory into my head, I loved the sound of it a lot, which made me want to continue watching. Then later on I'm just watching through and it got to the chorus, now... the music itself was awesome, but the flashing text and images, I had no idea what it meant, but I really liked it. In fact, I watched the OP another 15 times after that, I eventually downloaded the song and video and started watching it almost obsessively. Then it hit me, "I freakin' gotta watch this anime."
NGE by the way, my first anime, apart from the kiddy shit on nickelodeon and cartoon network, that I watched inocassionaly. In fact, this song and the Eva opening is what got me into anime. I'm sure it hasn't had the same affect on everybody, but I would like to know what affect it has had on you, if any at all.
TL;DR: How has the NGE OP affected you?
Now without further ado, please... discuss.

Funny, i always fast forwarded through the opening the first time i watched the series.
After i completed the series and EoE, and found a video of the OP's full version, now being able to link the flashing images to actual happenings in the series, all i could think of was "Holy shit, this is awesome."
And with that, the music also grew on me.

I heard the opening theme with no visuals before I'd ever even known what NGE was, and it actually made me LOL because it sounded cheesy to me. Listening to it a like a hundred times has caused it to grow on me a bit, but it still sounds kind of cheesy to me to this day. I guess it's kind of like the 60's Star Trek theme in that way.

-On EMF, as a thread becomes longer, the likelihood that fem-Kaworu will be mentioned increases exponentially.
-the only English language novel actually being developed in parallel to its Japanese version involving a pan-human Soviet in a galactic struggle to survive and to export the communist utopia/revolution to all the down trodden alien class and race- one of the premise being that Khrushchev remains and has abandoned Lysenko stupidity

Alexander Courage is God.
Other than that: Prana mudra. The only overt Hindu symbol I've noticed in NGE.

I like the song, but what was going on in the opening could have been more interesting
I don't care for Eva-elitists. I don't know everything, and neither do you.

The OP made me change my major and convert to Buddhism. :P
He shuddered a bit, remembering the somewhat creepy level of detail Kaji had gone into, while rubbing a watermelon in a disturbingly sexual way.

I wouldn't really say it "affected" me all that much, but it never fails to get me excited when I watch it. I just love the blindingly fast cuts that correspond perfectly with the song.

I like the song and the opening, but this thread is, in my administrative opinion, retarded typical Chit-Chat.
