In the original Japanese, the part we heard was, "Akagi Ritsuko-kun, hontou ni"
Given their history, the intended English translation could very possibly be, "Frankly my dear..." and I think we ALL know what the other half is to THAT line!
Thoughts?

To save you the trouble of a 30-something page archived thread from ANF, what Gendo ACTUALLY said to Ritsuko was: "The truth is/I truly...... have no regrets concerning my work."
Gendo also said this to Naoko in the episode 20 flashback (a young Ritsuko watched this exchange from afar), and it was even stated that there was one clue Anno told Ritsuko's seiyuu for her to figure out what the line was about. Either way, the fact it was able bring Ritsuko to disbelief then tears along with the betrayal of her mother showed it had to be something that emotionally upsetting to hear.
(I know this is a chit chat thread but silly versions of what Gendo said were already done somewhere. I think that stuff has been locked or was in an unrelated topic.)

I suppose we could come up with a joking
list of potential blank-fillers...
Then again, this concept was covered by that flash,
and then some.
I don't think we lowly non-mods can... :[

It is better to let a thread descend gently with benign neglect than to shit all over it with lock-related comments.
I may start getting grumpy if the trend continues.

Corrections:
(1) Not from ANF. This is something that was cooked up here.
(2) Not what Gendo "actually" said. It's a theory. Only Anno and Yamaguchi know what Gendo said.
