Here's a random crossover pairing that I've had in my head for years and it simply won't go away: Shinji/Kirika from Noir.

I can't explain it, it just popped in there one day.

Not necessarily. Kirika was a bit more emotional than Rei.
Not to say Rei never showed emotions at all, but Kirika shows them more frequently, even if it's very subtle.
