EVAs are clearly prototypes, and thus don't have the same sort of powers as refined models do.

I wouldn't say they are prototypes for ganmen, as they are organic and much more powerful then a "normal" ganmen (GL it self is a different story). If anything Eva's are something like Anti Spiral knights, they seemed to be made for the purpose of making 3rd impact occur. But anyway they really cant be connected for one reason, Anti Spirals basically eradicate a world when it reaches the population of about 1 million, which in Eva terms means humans would be killed off sometime...around 1000 AD? (not exactly sure when the first million humans came to be but you get my drift that it was a long time ago)

So the S2 engines are composed of spiral energy, and when Evangelion Unit-02 was still able to be moved by Asuka despite the lack of power, this could be further proof that the machine was being powered by her drive to continue to live and fight, aka spiral power (Kamina does the same in episode 2 when he gets the ganmen working by his drive to not die). and angels being spiral beings wouldn't be the case, since Eva units are essentially redesigned angels and can still function without an S2 engine, just not indefinitely. Angels likely work the same, so rather then being spiral beings, they are able to harness the spiral energy produced by the S2 engines...

!!!

Oh fuck!

OH FUCK!!!

What if we presume that the S2 engine designed for Unit-04 in Nevada wasn't a failure? What if it actually worked to well? Let's presume that the S2 engines are in fact producers of spiral energy. Now, Spiral Nemesis is described as a black hole of sorts by the Anti-Spirals, triggered by the large amount of spiral energy produced and the loss of control of the energy. The amount of energy collapses on itself, sucking everything in along with it. Suppose the S2 engine were either provided or produced more spiral energy then it could handle at a time. It's not hard to imagine it not being able to sustain as much energy as a spiral being, being only an artificial spiral energy producer rather then naturally-born spiral creature. So if the amount of Spiral energy needed to have it lose control is on a much lesser scale, is it so hard to believe that it could create a smaller scale occurence of Spiral Nemesis?

When reviewing that the Nevada NERV base disappeared, while Ritsuko believes that it was sucked into the Dirac Sea, that was only one of 32,768 possible outcomes. And given that both low statistics/chances on the show have high chances of occurring, and the last angel to attack had introduced such a concept, Ritsuko was probably just giving a hunch based on what would be the lowest possibility. Plus, if when Eva-01 was sucked into the Dirac Sea was any indication, producing enough spiral energy would actually negate the effects of the Dirac Sea. Not meaning to knock Shinji down a notch, but it's doubtful that of all the people sucked into whatever consumed the Nevada base, no one would be able to have the same revelations as Shinji and produce spiral power. So if it was the Dirac Sea, chances are high that poeple would have been able to collapse it.

What happened was the people of NERV Nevada were messing with the artificial S2 engine for Eva Unit-04. Do to being an artificial reproduction, it was less stable and more akin to losing control. It soon did so, and created a miniature reproduction of Spiral Nemesis (aka black hole) and sucked in the whole base, leaving no traces behind!

WE NEED MORE DEDUCTION PEOPLE!

No, no, not prototypes for ganmen, just prototypes for more sophisticated machines, with a lot of workarounds to make them effective. They have additional powers, of course, but they can't handle spiral energy effectively. The ganmen can, and the differences in how they tick also mean the loss of some functions.

Sorry, but the mystery of how an S2 engine works was actually solved by chee and I on the IRC a few months ago.

Each S2 engine is filled with hundreds of tiny Ohmu that tentacle gang bang a miniature Nausicaa, which gives the engine its unlimited power.

Now, where does Otaku No Video fit in?

Well I think I can answer this, the robot at the end of Otaku no Video looks a lot like the one in the original gunbuster. Due to Sasshi rewriting the new history created by Shiji in Evangelion, an alternate timeline was spawned which would eventually result in the future dipected at the beginning of Gurren Lagann. To prevent this future from happening, the space fraternity sent the Excelion MK II created after the end of Diebuster back in time to terminate Sasshi. However the pilot died and it was later discovered by GiantX when they were building Otakuland. Despite this potentially being an important scientific discory, they couldn't help but make it into part of their theme park just because it looked so cool. The reason why they revert to their younger selves when entering the robot, is because it was built with a time distortion field that prevents the altered timeline from affecting it.

Everybody! Refine this into a Grand Unified Theory even better than the tvtropes one so we can immortalize it on the website!

Might dig up some copypasta from IRC logs for lulz.

Ok, well here's the series none of us have tried to work into this yet

Wings of Honmease

Ugly & Beautiful world

He is my master (unless you want to count the mention in that one quote)

The other "Loves Modern Silliness" anime besides ebichu

Blazing Transfer student

So yeah we still have a bit of fanwanking to do before we can completely unify all this.

The problem is very little is known about the other loves madern silliness anime besides ebichu. We could just say that those either take place in a post instrumentality world made by Shinji before he really decided on anything concrete or that these were versions of reality made by Sasshi in Abenobashi.

Blazing Transfer student is a parody of tough guy high school anime. Maybe the protagonist could be Kaminas distant ancestor?

Gurren Lagann is like Zugzwang without the drunken Ornette or the hawt lesbian SSD/Birdy action. The Anti-Spiral is like Reichu without the flying monkeys.

The Anti-Spirals actually began as a divergent sect of the FAR.

See, the FAR were totally full of the themselves, and thought they were such the shit that the galaxy ought to populated with SPIRAL BEINGS like them. However, as technology advanced, which made this goal more and more achievable, a movement also emerged suggesting that this wasn't such a great idea after all. However, it wasn't taken very seriously, and the mad rush to send out progenitor beings who would produce variations on humanity -- all with forms of SPIRAL POWAH -- continued.

The anti-Seeding contingency, who called themselves the ANTI-SPIRALS, became fed up with what was going on, and decided to make a point. They hijacked one of the Moons in the shipyard, along with one of the as-yet unused Seed bodies, and subsequently committed an utterly bizarre and self-righteous 'group suicide' wherein they phased into another plane of existence with the cult's leader -- now in the body of a God -- vowing to, from their new home base, curb the zeal of their (former) race and any other spiral beings that might turn up, no matter how long it might take.

It was only after they'd irretrievably sent out a lot of these Seed-things that the rest of the FAR realized that the "Anti-Spiral" cult had been absolutely correct. Subsequently, they attempted to reconstruct the A-S' plans, in an attempt to rejoin them and make their kind whole again, but instead got a few details messed up and became a giant blob of "immortal souls" instead while causing the premature eradication of every other lifeform of their planet. Their ultimate fate is as of yet unknown.

Please improve upon this in any of the most obvious ways.

I also forgot Re: Cutie honey in my list of stuff we need to include

Honey & Jill could be worked into this the same way as Mahoro as being another prototype for what Nono and the Aiba machines would end up being based off of.

Anyway, the space Fraternity was present in flcl which is either before or post instrumentality. Either way its close to the present day. But their still present in the far future when Diebuster takes place. The Fraternity may have been founded by the original spiral warriors that used the lagans to fight the anti spirals throughout the universe. If Reichus theory that the FAR were Spiral warriors, maybe the Fraternity was a special organization made by them specifically to fight the anti spiral menace as well as sympathizing organizations such as medical mechanica as well as other destructive forces like the space monsters which may have come about as a side effect of the spiral nemises. They also may have been allied with Saint which is responsible for the tech needed to make Mahoro, Honey & Jill coming to earth.

But what we have to wonder, is did Saint or the Fraternity have any hand in the two seeds coming to earth , or was that merely coincidence?

Anyway refining my original Daicon theory, its also likely that Daicon may in fact be a Spiral knight who was battling various antispiral forces in the video.

Anyway to get this settled out better I'll try to make a timeline later explaining how these all come together
