Cicadas for sure. Just the other day I walking outside, and heard their sound. I also realized that I was dressed like Shinji. Also today I was talking to a friend, and he said the fact I run hypothetical scenarios of me telling my kid in the future, that yes I don't want them to be more successful than me, made him say that that's very Shinji of me. Also this friend of mine is similar to Kaji, in that he'll hit on anything that's got a pulse.

Train sounds and dissonant piano tunes scare the living shit out of me.

Then you better not visit my home since I live right next to the railroad - train sounds are essential for my daily routine.

I apologize for being Mr. Gloomy, but when I hear/read/see journalistic reports about child warriors in some stupid war I sometimes think of Neon Genesis Evangelion and its 14-year-olds. I saw child warriors, a long time ago; or, rather, I saw what was left of them.

At church, the college minister was preaching, and he talked about the difference between unity and instrumentality.

Also, what Bomby said.

I have no idea how, but the frame of 1.0 which shows Shinji's cup of water with a straw in it got ingrained in my head. Now I am reminded every time I see a straw in a lid up close.

A lot of chill emo kids and anyone who's cynical, reminds me of Eva.
Party girls remind me of Misato.

Looking at my hands. I've always done it. Everyone does. Only now can does it feel intertextual.

I used to do that a lot before I saw the show, afterwards, not so much.

Anyway, If I'm on the bus or trolley and I'm looking out the window I'll have my iPod on shuffle and if a peice of classical music plays I'll be reminded of the imagery on the show. Usually more with Chopin or Satie, which is weird because their musuc wasn't on the show.
Not who you think I am.

simple...
THE RISK OF GETTING KILLED
why?
well..so many characters in EVANGELION is killed..
apparently i didnt want that HAPPEN to me.so its much better to live w/ your chances while your are ALIVE
Humans can easily explain the cycle of life because they witnessed it, and they can tell it's story,
But no one can explain why a human need to die because the people who witnessed it can't never tell the tale.

Songs. If it didn't predate Eva I'd almost think "Building" by Embrace were a paraphrase of Shinji's confessions to Misato in EoE. "United" by Throbbing Gristle sounds like it could be about Instrumentality. There are tons more too, those are just two I've noticed in the past few weeks.

Marine boot camp. The first few nights I was there I would say something to myself about unfamiliar ceilings before I went to sleep. I couldn't do it when I woke up though, since mornings are so hectic there.
I still say that whenever I wake up somewhere unusual.

Things that remind me of Evangelion

Things that remind me of Evangelion are:

* Riding in an elevator
* Riding on an escalator
* Taking a break from work to have a drink
* Meeting co-workers after work to have a drink
* Walking through my neighborhood or the city alone at night
* Laying in my bed alone at night

I think those are the major ones.

It's more the bad habits I developed from EVA that remind me of it daily, like pushing up my sunglasses and the hand tic (yeah, somehow I developed that little annoyance through the years). Oh, and also: crosses, the way I use my PSP like an SDAT, and songs (I try and find EVA references in any song I hear).

"What would Rebuild Shinji do/NGETV Shinji not do?"

I ask this myself several times a day.
